Georgia Football vs. Georgia Tech: How to watch, listen, stream
It’s rivalry week in College Football, and that means Clean Old Fashioned Hate in the Peach State. Georgia and Georgia Tech square off Saturday at Sanford Stadium for the regular season finale as the Bulldogs look to close out a second straight undefeated regular season while the Yellow Jackets try to clinch a spot in the postseason. Georgia Tech fired head coach Geoff Collins four games into the year with a 1-3 record and since things have turned around. Interim coach Brent Key has his team playing their best football, winning four games (more than Collins won in any of his three full seasons on the job) including a road victory over North Carolina last week. Meanwhile, Kirby Smart has Georgia rolling once again, ranked No. 1 in the country and on track for a spot in the College Football Playoffs.
“We’re on to Georgia Tech, a program I know a lot about. And a coach that I have a lot of respect for,” Smart said in his opening press conference of Georgia Tech week. “Known Brent for a long time. He played at Tech while I played at Georgia. We played against each other. And we spent some summers together. And I have a lot of respect for him as a coach. You know, he was the O-line coach at Alabama one of the years we played them. And they did a really good job. His offensive lines are always physical, get after it. There’s a lot of familiarity with their staff, with ours, Chip Long, Chaney, and all the guys that have been over there. And so, they’re playing really well now. They’re playing really hard now. And I think he’s done a tremendous job at getting these guys to compete.”
In 115 all-time meetings between these two teams, Georgia holds a 69-41-5 advantage including four straight since a loss in Kirby Smart’s first season on the job. The Bulldogs won 45-0 last year in Atlanta. This will be Georgia Tech’s first trip to Athens since 2018 with the 2020 game being cancelled due to COVID-19. Georgia will recognize its seniors on the field before the game. A finalized list of who is and isn’t participating in the Senior Day ceremony has not yet been released. According to Georgia’s online roster, 29 players are in their fourth year or later out of high school, typically giving them the option to participate in Senior Day activities regardless of their eligibility status.
