LIVE UPDATES: No. 1 Georgia 31, Georgia Tech 23 - FINAL
ATLANTA, Ga. — It’s rivalry week, and for the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, that means a date with Georgia Tech, better known as Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate. Kirby Smart’s squad rolls into Bobby Dodd Stadium with an 11-0 record and a 28-game win streak. With a win Saturday night under the lights and Atlanta skyline, the Bulldogs would set an all-time SEC record for the league’s longest win streak.
As for Georgia Tech, the Yellow Jackets haven’t had quite that amount of success as of late, but they are bowl eligible for the first time since 2018. In year one under the direction of head coach Brent Key, Georgia Tech has knocked off a pair of ranked opponents and will look to do so again with Georgia coming to town.
“We’re onto Georgia Tech and excited for the prep. I love rivalry week across the country. What makes college football really special to me is all the rivalries you get to watch on this week. A very unique week timing-wise, a lot of distractions with Thanksgiving going on. Those are good distractions, but they are different. How you manage that and how you deal with that is important,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said on Monday to open the week.
“A lot of respect for Brent Key and his staff,” he continued. “I’ve known Brent a long time. He played at Tech when I played here. His staff does a great job. Obviously, there’s several guys on his staff that we have worked with before, a lot of overlap. I think we’re both very grateful for a state of high school football in Georgia that provides both of us with a lot of really good football players. He’s done a tremendous job this year. Buster (Faulker’s) done a tremendous job for them, and Kevin (Sherrer) taking over the defense kind of midstream there, he’s done a really good job.”
Georgia has won 18 of the last 21 in the rivalry including five in a row. The Bulldogs have not lost in Atlanta since 1999, and Vegas doesn’t expect it to happen today either with a line set at UGA -24.

Pregame
- Full depth chart as posted in the press box can be found here.
- Wide receiver CJ Smith, who was dealing with some sort of a knee injury recently, is back and dressed out. He does however have a rather large brace on his left leg.
- Of the injured players that aren’t dressed, Jamon Dumas-Johnson (forearm) and Julian Humphrey (upper body) have been spotted. Does not appear that Humphrey has any sort of sling for his shoulder.
- Tate Ratledge and Warren Brinson are dressed out. Brinson is going through drills and doesn’t appear limited in any way while the same can’t be said about Ratledge. No gloves for him. In his place is Xavier Truss at RG. Dylan Fairchild still at LG.
- Watching the wide receivers go through their pre-warmup drills, no Ladd McConkey or Rara Thomas. Wouldn’t come as a surprise to see both here in street clothes.
- One thing to keep in mind as warmups are starting to get going: Georgia is able to bring a larger number of players for this road game as opposed to SEC road contests.
