ATHENS, Ga. — It’s Saturday in Athens, the first of its kind for the 2024 season. Georgia takes on Tennessee Tech at Sanford Stadium, kicking off at 2:00 p.m. ET on SEC Network+.

Georgia is coming off of a big win in its opener. UGA took down Clemson 34-3 thanks to 28 points scored after halftime. Carson Beck and company found a rhythm as they rolled. Nate Frazier provided a spark, and London Humphreys sealed the deal with a 40-yard score early in the fourth. Any hopes of a Clemson comeback were slammed shut, especially considered the performance of the Dawgs’ defense all day long.

It’s on to the next one though. Whatever happened last week won’t help Kirby Smart’s squad this week, and he knows that.

“Excited to get moved on to pursue getting better,” Smart said to open this week. “… I can’t pick one thing on improvement. There are so many things that we’ve got to do better. There’s just a lot there that we want to improve on, and some of what you’re doing is dictated by who you play. People just think it’s a stat game. It’s not a stat game. It’s who you’re lining up across from and how good that football player is because that does dictate things, the matchups.”

*** Woodring makes his second of the day. (UGA 48-0 3:07 4Q)

*** Georgia’s defense forces a three-and-out and gives the Bulldog offense possession right at midfield.

*** Brett Thorson comes on for the first time today. Georgia punt gives it to Tennessee Tech at their 10 yard line after the fair catch.
*** Teams have agreed to reduce the fourth quarter to 10:00 instead of 15:00.

Third Quarter

*** Tennessee Tech goes three-and-out. Gunner Stockton will take over for Georgia at quarterback.

*** Beck’s fifth touchdown of the day ties a school record for most by a Georgia QB in a game. Last to do so, Stetson Bennett in the home-opener of the 2021 season. Bulldogs were also coming off of a neutral site victory over Clemson and would go on to win a national championship.
*** Couple of penalties push Georgia back but it’s no worry for Georgia’s offense. Carson Beck connects with Lawson Luckie for a score from 37 yards out. (UGA 38-0 12:21 3Q)
*** First play of the Tennessee Tech drive results in a fumble. Dan Jackson recovers and Georgia will take over at the 27 of the Golden Eagles.

*** Beck finds Dominic Lovett in the end zone from 10 yards out for the touchdown. PAT by Peyton Woodring is good. (UGA 24-0 1:11 2Q)
*** Cash Jones and Carson Beck move the chains on back-to-back plays. Two minute timeout after Arian Smith picks up 4 to the Tennessee Tech 8.
*** Trevor Etienne picks up 45 yards on the first play of the drive. Georgia has it at the Tennessee Tech 35.
*** Tennessee Tech stopped on 3rd and 12. Punt team comes on for the Golden Eagles with just under 5:00 to go in the second quarter.

*** Timeout Tennessee Tech, final of the first half, with 4:58 showing on the clock. Odd stat of the game so far: Golden Eagles have run the ball on 22 consecutive plays. Some of those have been drop backs and sacks or scrambles, but the only pass came on the first play of the game – a loss of 4 yards.
*** Tennessee Tech picks up 10 on the ground on 3rd and 9. Golden Eagles then move the chains again, getting past midfield for a fresh set of downs with another gain of 10.

First Quarter

*** Timeout Tennessee Tech, facing a 4th and 1 and trying to pick up its first first down of the day.
*** Kickoff goes out of bounds and gives Tennessee Tech it’s best field position, starting at the 35 yard line.

*** So far today Carson Beck is 8-for-8 for 90 yards and two touchdowns, good for a QB rating of 277. He’s found seven different Georgia receivers in the process.
*** Four straight plays, starting with the Delp conversion, go for first downs. Beck found Dominic Lovett (12), Arian Smith (14) and Branson Robinson (14). Drive comes to an end after Colbie Young comes open across the middle and gets into the end zone from 6 yards out. (UGA 14-0 6:37 1Q)

*** First catch of the season for Oscar Delp moves the chains on 3rd and 11. Gain of 13 puts UGA past midfield.

Pregame

*** Georgia has won the toss and deferred. Tennessee Tech will receive, moving left to right on your screen as this one gets underway.
*** Captains for Georgia: Cash Jones, Chaz Chambliss, Nazir Stackhouse, Xavier Truss

*** Joenel Aguero announced as a starter on the video board. Etienne also announced, indicating his Georgia debut could be made today.
*** Warren Brinson is dressed out for today’s game as he deals with an ankle contusion. Williams is not, wearing a boot on his left foot. Joined by fellow defensive linemen Jordan Hall and Xzavier McLeod in street clothes.

*** Pair of Georgia players on scooters: Roderick Robinson and Kristopher Jones. Neither of those are new injuries. In other news, Mykel Williams, who normally comes out early to field a couple of kicks, has not done so this week. He was expected out this week anyway after the updates Kirby Smart shared mid-week.
*** Monitoring action pregame, Trevor Etienne appears to be wearing some of athletic tape on his arms he was not last week. Doesn’t mean anything, but could be a sign he’ll be in action today.
