Georgia Football vs. UMass: Live updates, scores, highlights
ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia hosts UMass on this 14th College Football Saturday of the season, No. 11 for the Bulldogs. Ranked tenth in the latest edition of the College Football Playoff rankings, Georgia is on the rise after last Saturday’s win over Tennessee and probably headed towards the postseason, but the Bulldogs must first take care of business against UMass.
“Yeah, we jumped into UMass yesterday and got started on these guys. We’ve got our players in, and we’ll be moving forward with them,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said on Monday to open his press conference previewing the matchup. “Heard the unfortunate news about Don Brown just recently. I know Shane [Montgomery] from the past and recruited together on the road. I’ve been around Shane before. He’s a tremendous coach, and we look forward to preparing for this game.”
Georgia and UMass have played just once before, a 2018 win for the Bulldogs. UGA put up 66 points in total with freshman quarterback Justin Fields leading the team in both passing (121 yards) and rushing (100) while Tyler Simmons scored two touchdowns and was the team’s top receiver with 81 yards on two catches plus a 49-yard rush. Meanwhile on the other side, All-American Andy Isabella went off with 15 catches, 219 yards receiving and two touchdowns. It’s the second-most receptions and third-most receiving yards by an opposing player in UGA program history.

The Minutemen are 2-8 on the season and struggling enough to fire their head coach, Don Brown, on Monday. Offensive coordinator Shane Montgomery will serve as the interim for the time being including the trip to Sanford Stadium.
UGA, as you would expect, is a big favorite entering this one. According to VegasInsider, the line is listed at 42 points in favorite of the Bulldogs with an over/under set for 55.5.

Injury Notes…
11/23/2024 10:08:23 AMCouple of guys are working with strength and conditioning coach Scott Sinclair during initial warmups including two notable ones. Both Roderick Robinson and Branson Robinson are in football pants while Branson has a brace on his right knee. They are running – Roderick looking better than Branson I will note. Offensive lineman Earnest Greene also with them. Wide receiver Dillon Bell is NOT dressed out with a boot on his left foot.
