Watch list season is close to coming to a close, but a few big ones remain. This week, the Davey O’Brien Award, Mackey Award and Rimington Trophy were among the announced watch lists with Georgia landed at least one representative on each.

Quarterback Carson Beck was named to the 36-player watch list on Thursday after a 2023 season that saw him as a semifinalist for the award. He’s one of 11 returning semifinalists but should be considered among the favorites to bring the trophy home when it’s announced on December 12th.

Beck, a senior out of Mandarin (Jacksonville, Fla.), is entering his second season as the UGA starter at quarterback. After winning the job during preseason camp ahead of the 2023 campaign, Beck finished third nationally and first in the SEC in passing yards with 3,941 on a school-record 72.4% completion rate. He was a finalist for the Manning Award and was named to the All-SEC Second Team by the league’s 14 head coaches.

Then, on Friday, the Mackey Award and Rimington Trophy also released their watch lists featuring tight ends Oscar Delp and Ben Yurosek up for the Mackey and offensive lineman Jared Wilson among the group of centers named for the Rimington.

All three are tasked with filling big shoes of a Bulldog off to the NFL. For Delp and Yurosek, that’s Brock Bowers, UGA’s leading receiver each of the past three seasons. As for Wilson, Sedrick Van Pran manned the middle of the Georgia offensive line for 44 consecutive starts.

Delp totaled 24 catches for 284 yards and three touchdowns last season playing alongside Bowers for a large part of it. Yurosek comes to Athens by way of Stanford where he combined for 108 receptions, 1,342 yards and five touchdowns in 34 career contests. Todd Hartley should be just fine with that group – as should Stacy Searels with Wilson at center – but it’s certainly something to watch for Georgia this fall.

Georgia’s total of players included on preseason watch lists grows to 13 now with the latest trio of Delp, Yurosek and Wilson joining the group. A full list of UGA watch list members can be found below.

Fifteen Bulldogs made an All-SEC squad of some sort as voted on by the media at SEC Media Days. Georgia kicks off its 2024 season on August 31st against Clemson with a battle between ACC and SEC favorites in Atlanta. The Bulldogs and Tigers were both included in the preseason top-15 of the Coaches Poll released on Monday, and the two programs claim four of the last eight national titles.
