Georgia Freshman Report: CJ Allen makes first start, steps up
Georgia took down Ole Miss by a wide margin on Saturday, outscoring the Rebels by a total score of 52-17 after the game was tied at 14 a piece. UGA freshman CJ Allen made his first career start and made a major impact on the Bulldog defense. DawgsHQ dives into how he did and the respective days of Georgia’s 15 total freshmen that got in the game below…
# 0 LB Troy Bowles – Bowles did not record a stat, however he was in on a pressure of Spencer Sanders that forced an incompletion and turnover on downs.
# 0 RB Roderick Robinson – Robinson returned to action after suffering a sprained ankle earlier this season against South Carolina. He ripped off a 36-yarder to help set up Georgia’s final touchdown of the game. Robinson’s other carry was a 1-yard gain.
# 5 LB Raylen Wilson – Wilson was part of the freshman tandem of inside linebackers asked to step up in the absence of Jamon Dumas-Johnson. He helped in doing so with two tackles including one solo stop of Spencer Sanders for no gain. His other was an assisted tackle shared with Smael Mondon, stopping Quinshon Judkins for just 1 yard.
# 7 TE Lawson Luckie – Luckie recorded his first career catch, a 5-yard grab on his only target. Luckie played less with the return of Brock Bowers at tight end.
# 8 DB Joenel Aguero – Aguero, like so many others on defense, saw action late in the game with Georgia up big. He did not record a stat of any sort.
# 15 DB Daniel Harris – Harris did not record a stat in his action, but it was the first time he’s gotten in ahead of fellow freshman AJ Harris at corner. He was on the receiving end of some coaching from Kirby Smart as he trailed a receiver in coverage on an incompletion.
# 17 WR Anthony Evans – Evans got in the game late for Georgia but did not record any sort of stat.
# 26 LB Sam M’Pemba – M’Pemba recorded a pair of tackles in the fourth quarter and got Georgia off the field on a 3rd and 6, sharing the tackle with fellow freshman Jamaal Jarrett.
