Georgia – Georgia Tech: what Munson would've worried about

Georgia owns Georgia Tech of late. But it wasn’t too long ago when the Jackets could still wrestle control of the Ramblin’ Wreck and crash it straight into the Dawgs’ psyche.

The Jackets beat a couple ranked teams on the road.

Their interim coach, Brent Key, is a Georgia Tech man. The team plays hard for him.

Vegas doesn’t care about all of the feel-good angles for the Jackets, though.

Georgia still brings a favored margins 35.5 points into this thing.

If Larry Munson were still around to pontificate in the Dawgs’ pregame show, however, I have to imagine he’d be sweating this one out.

So, just like I do for every game, let’s take a hypothetical look at what Munson would’ve worried about for Georgia – Georgia Tech.

Another shot at Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate. Georgia and Georgia Tech used to mean something you guys

We used to have real bragging rights on the line when we played these guys.

Now, you wanna win of course because it helps you in the postseason and the playoff now I guess.

And we have a real shot at history now. No one’s seen the Dawgs go back-to-back years with undefeated regular seasons. But you know I’ll still find something that scares the ever-living daylights out of me.

And I think this game means a whole lot more to the team with gold helmets than it does to the team with red ones.

They pray and dream about the opportunity to take us down and take us out.

We only know how bad it feels when we lose to em, you guys. I just do not think we celebrate the wins over them near as much as we used to.

Stetson Bennett has one last game Between the Hedges

He’s had a heck of a career.

But what’s he focusing on in this game? A noon kickoff against Georgia Tech seems like it could be treacherous.

He’s a little banged up. Only passed 19 times last week in Lexington. That’s normally how many times he throws in a half.

Can he play through all that pain?

I just don’t know, you guys. This season is wearing on Little Stetson Bennett, and we have more season to go after this!

Of course, we still have Brock Bowers

And he really took it to Tech last time they played.

You would think that all we have to do is give him the ball. And I’m not criticizing our coaches here, they do some great work.

But we couldn’t get that California kid nearly enough looks last week against Kentucky.

Now we got the Jackets and they’ve already been tough enough and disruptive enough to beat two ranked teams on the road.

Bowers is a special player. He came on the scene strong as a freshman and ought to have two special seasons after that before going professional.

I’m hesitant to make the comparison and jinx em but he reminds me of Herschel in that regard.

We’ll need some help from Old Lady Luck to make sure he gets the ball against these guys.

They couldn’t shut him down last year. They may sell the farm to take him out this time around, and I think we need him to win.

We also need to make sure we aren’t looking ahead to LSU in that big SEC Championship game. We lose this one, and all of the sudden we’re standing over a real knee-knocker in Atlanta.

They got a nice Thanksgiving spread for us up here in the press box, so I’m gonna put out this cigar and go load up on some turkey and Cokes.
