Five Georgia football assistants received contract extensions this offseason per an open records request obtained by Marc Weiszer of the Athens-Banner Herald. Weiszer was the first to report updated details of the contracts for defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach Glenn Schumann, tight ends coach Todd Hartley, running backs coach Dell McGee, offensive line coach Stacy Searels and outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe.

Their respective contracts are extended as follows:

  • Glenn Schumann – one year extension through June 30, 2026, $1.9 million
  • Todd Hartley – two year extension through June 30, 2026, $850,000
  • Dell McGee – one-year extension through June 30, 2025, $850,000
  • Stacy Searels – one-year extension through June 30, 2025, $750,000
  • Chidera Uzo-Diribe – one-year through June 30, 2025, $500,000

Also reported by Weiszer is an increase in the salary of director of football recruiting relationships coordinator David Cooper. His pay is now $170,000 and goes up to $185,000 in a contract that runs through June 30, 2025.

Georgia gave raises to a couple of coaches earlier in the year including defensive line coach Tray Scott. He saw his pay bumped from $755,000 to $800,000 in February. Another $200,000 kicked in on April 1.

Other raises included Schumann, Hartley, Searels, McGee and Uzo-Diribe at the price points reflected above, plus Fran Brown ($800,000) and Bryan McClendon ($750,000).

Georgia is in its second week of fall camp as the Bulldogs prepare for their 2023 campaign. In the Coaches Poll announced on Monday, Kirby Smart’s squad comes in at No. 1 over the likes of Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State and LSU who round out the top 5.

Georgia plays two teams ranked in the top 25 during the regular season – Tennessee (No. 10) and Ole Miss (No. 22). South Carolina, Florida and Kentucky were among the top 10 in “others receiving votes”, where Auburn and Missouri also made an appearance.
