Georgia guard Justin Hill provided plenty of highlights during his UGA career. Making multiple go-ahead shots and game-winners for the Bulldogs with his tough, get-to-the-basket approach, Hill played a part in each of the first two seasons of the Mike White era. Come year three, he’ll be playing elsewhere.
According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Hill plans to enter the transfer portal, the second Georgia player to do so on Monday joining Jalen DeLoach.
Hill made the decision to enter the transfer portal after being moved to the bench primarily this past season. He started 10 games and played in all 32 for Georgia in 2022-23, and while still seeing the court in every outing during the 2023-24 season and doing so with greater minutes, Hill was part of the Bulldogs’ first five just three times.
“Justin Hill is a developing defender. He’s become a little bit more committed to becoming a pitbull on the basketball,” White said about Hill when asked about the team’s top defenders.
“He’s grown. He’s been more consistent daily in practice. He’s strung together a bunch of good practices, learned how to pick his spots and when to be vocal and when to lead by example,” he added on Hill, this time talking about leadership.

During his time at Georgia, Hill represented the Bulldogs at SEC Media Days ahead of the 2023-24 season. He averaged 9.5 points and a team-high 3.2 assists per contest during that campaign, reaching double-figures 17 times including a season-high 21 in the NIT against Wake Forest. It was Hill’s fourth straight game topping the 10-point mark and fifth time in six contests. He had at least 10 points in six straight during the previous season including UGA’s wins over Kentucky and LSU, a game in which Hill made a jumper to send the Bulldogs home victorious.
A transfer from Longwood where he helped the Lancers to a conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2021, Hill was the first addition to the roster by White. At Longwood, Hill earned Big South All-Freshman Team honors and followed it up with an even more impressive sophomore season, averaging 14.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
Hill will have one year of eligibility remaining at his next stop. He is originally from Houston, Texas.
