Georgia guard Silas Demary enters transfer portal and NBA Draft
Georgia is losing a big piece of their starting lineup from the 2025 basketball season. Point guard Silas Demary is entering the transfer portal according to On3’s Joe Tipton. Demary has also entered his name into the 2025 NBA Draft.
The 6-foot-5, guard averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game this season. Demary was big for Georgia down the stretch of the season. His play was one of the big pieces of the puzzle that helped Georgia and head coach Mike White reach their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2015.
Demary scored 21 points, 26 points, 16 points and 15 points in Georgia’s four-game winning streak to close out the season and make the NCAA Tournament. He added 15 more points in Georgia’s loss to Gonzaga back on March 20.
Demary signed with Georgia as a member of the class of 2023. He was committed to USC before deciding to sign with Georgia as a four-star recruit out of Raleigh that year.

White was complementary of Demary and the other sophomores, Dylan James and Blue Cain for stepping up and helping uphold Georgia’s culture this season following the Bulldogs’ home finale against Vanderbilt.
“Some of it is recruiting and some of it is the development not necessarily the basketball development but the off the court development, the personal development and growth,” White said after that game. “For instance, those three sophomores, they’re totally different kids than they were as freshmen. They’ve grown up a lot. The continuity with those guys has helped us a lot.”
The Transfer Portal opened in college basketball ahead of the Sweet Sixteen. By Wednesday, more than 1,250 college basketball players had entered the Transfer Portal.
