Georgia huddles up before the start of a NCAA baseball game against Arkansas in Athens, Ga., on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Georgia halted its four-game SEC losing skid by halting No. 1 Arkansas’ 12-game win streak in the league. The Bulldogs held off the Razorbacks for a 7-6 win to even the three-game series.

Kolten Smith got the start for UGA and also picked up the win. He went five innings, allowing a pair of runs on five hits and two walks. He also struck out eight to get Georgia out of trouble. Mathew Hoskins came on in the ninth with runners on the corners and no outs to get his second save of the season.

Ryland Zaborowski went three for four while driving in three runs. He had a home run and a double. Robbie Burnett had two hits and a walk in the win while also going yard.

Georgia led wire to wire but it was far from a stress-free day. Nolan McCarthy got things going in the first and an RBI single that drove in Slate Alford. Zaborowski followed with a single of his own, driving in a pair of runs to make it 3-0 in favor of the home team.

Arkansas cut into the lead in the top of the second with a solo home run from Ryder Helfrick to make it 3-1, but Georgia quickly answered and then some. Burnett, hitting for the second time in as many innings, smacked his 17th home run of the season. It was a two-run shot that put the Bulldogs up 5-1.

The top of the third saw Arkansas answer right back with a run of its own. Georgia got it back in its half of the third with Zaborowski going yard for the 17th time on the season, staking Smith to a 6-2 lead. He made that stand up until he left the game after the fifth inning.

Davis Chastain came on for the Bulldogs and gave up one run in one inning of work. That cut the lead to 6-3 but, one more time, Georgia responded. Ryan Black’s one-out double plated Devin Obee to push the Bulldog lead to 7-3.

The nation’s top-ranked team refused to go quietly. It got two in the eighth on Kuhio Aloy’s two-run home run, his fifth hit of the series. That cut the UGA lead to just two and Arkansas dug into it further in the ninth. It pulled to within a run on a Hoskins’ wild pitch but that was it. Hoskins got a couple of ground outs, walked a batter, then struck out Helfrick to end it.

The rubber match will take place on Sunday at Foley Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast by SEC Network+.
