Georgia kicker commit Peyton Woodring sets new state record
Georgia’s special teams future looks to be in capable hands if Friday night was any indication, with kicker commit Peyton Woodring setting a new Louisiana high school state record.
Woodring, a three-star prospect from Lafayette, Louisiana’s Ascension Episcopal School, captured the new mark in the Bayou State with a staggering 60-yard boot against Franklin Senior High.
Per Mike Coppage of the Acadiana Advocate, Woodring also hit from 49-yards and came close on a 57-yard attempt.
Currently ranked as the nation’s No. 5 overall kicker in the Class of 2023 per the On3 Consensus rankings, Woodring is also ranked as the nation’s top kicker by Kohl’s Professional Camps, a service which specializes in high school specialists such as kickers, punters, and long snappers.
Kohl’s offers the following scouting report per Woodring’s profile on their website:
“Woodring won a spot in the Under Armour All-American Game at the National Invitational Scholarship Camp. He won the kick-off charts and also finished first on the field goal charts in July of 2022. In January, he scored an impressive 114 points on kickoffs. In December he scored 14 of 15 points on field goals and had a kickoff score of 110. Woodring also competed very well at the Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp in July of 2021. He scored 29 points out of 36 over the 2 days of field goal charting which was one of the top scores at camp. He generates a lot of energy into his kick-offs and it showed where he finished second in his class for average distance and hang-time for a combined total of 109.75 points. Woodring is one of the best prospects in the 2023 class and we expect big things for him in college!”

He’s also been open regarding his own strengths.
“I feel like I have one of the strongest kickoff legs in the country. It’s one of my big things,” Woodring said about his ability after an offer from Alabama. “This season, I probably had one of the best films in America for a kicker. I went 14-of-19 on field goals and had a long of 56 [yards] in a game. It was good by a long bit, too. I feel like my in-game film really separates me from other kickers and how well I do under the pressure.”
Woodring committed to Georgia in mid-June, choosing the Dawgs over the likes of Alabama, Air Force, and Louisiana-Lafayette.
Currently, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Woodring is Georgia’s lone specialist commit for the Class of 2023.
