While most of Georgia football nation is locked in on the Buckeyes or wrapping up the Class of 2023 in the early signing period, Thursday brought news on a different front, as the Bulldogs landed a commitment from star sophomore linebacker Jadon Perlotte.

The nation’s No. 35 overall prospect for 2025 per the On3 Consensus, Perlotte ranks as the No. 3 linebacker for the sophomore class and the No. 6 prospect in Georgia for the cycle.

Perlotte, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound defender, hails from in-state powerhouse Buford in Buford, Georgia.

He chose the Bulldogs over the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Tennessee, Penn State, Miami, and almost thirty other schools.

“I grew up loving Georgia. They’re legendary,” Perlotte told On3’s Jeremy Johnson of the Bulldogs ahead of the decision.

With his lengthy frame, Perlotte may be bound for the EDGE position at the next level, and his potential positional coach has already made an impression on the several visits the sophomore has taken..

“(Chidera Uzo-Diribe) is doing great. I’ve been able to build a relationship with him,” Perlotte said. “He has high expectations for his linebackers. He’s a great coach…”

It all worked together to help make Athens the right fit for one of the top young prospects in the nation.

“Why wouldn’t you want to play there, what else can you want,” Perlotte said in September.

Perlotte becomes Georgia’s first 2025 commitment this week and the second overall in the class.

Georgia has added two 2023 commits this week, with Consensus five-star EDGE Samuel M’Pemba joining the group on Sunday and On300 four-star offensive tackle Jamal Meriweather flipping his pledge to Georgia from UCF on Monday evening.

Georgia already off to a fast start in 2025

Perlotte isn’t alone on Georgia’s commit list for the Class of 2025 either.

In July, running back Jabree Wallace-Coleman of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s Imhotep Institute Charter High announced his pledge to the Bulldogs.

“Georgia has always been one of my most anticipated colleges (from an offer perspective),” Wallace-Coleman told DawgsHQ following his announcement. “I was blessed with the opportunity to receive the offer, and I am honored to make the commitment.”

Currently, the Bulldogs rank as the No. 2 recruiting class in the Class of 2023, the No. 3 class in the Class of 2024, and the No. 6 class in 2025.
