It won’t be long now before Georgia baseball begins putting tallies in the win and loss columns for the 2025 season. Fresh off hosting a regional for the first time in a few years and winning one for the first time in well over a decade, the Bulldogs will enter the season as the nation’s No. 11 team per Baseball America.

Georgia has already been ranked by D1 Baseball and Perfect Game. Both sets of the rankings had the Bulldogs higher with D1 Baseball placing them at No. 8 while Perfect Game had them at No. 4.

The Bulldogs lose record-setting slugger Charlie Condon, who was taken third overall in the 2024 Major League Baeball draft by Colorado and other key pieces like on-base machine and power bat Corey Collins. Those two manned the corner infield spots for the Bulldogs for most of the 2024 season.

With that said, Georgia also brings back some boppers. Sophomore outfielder Tre Phelps battled injury in his first season but had a standout campaign at the plate, finishing the year with .353 average and an OPS north of 1.000. Phelps also hit 12 home runs and drove in 40 runs.

Slate Alford is also back after a big first season in Athens. He was a power bat in the middle of the lineup, hitting 17 home runs and driving in 69 runs while hitting .300 on the year. Veteran shortstop Kolby Branch also returns after belting a Georgia record four grand slams in 2024. One of those lifted Georgia over UNC-Wilmington in the Bulldogs’ NCAA regional.

The Bulldogs made additions to their lineup this offseason and they also bolstered the pitching staff. Leighton Finley, Kolten Smith, and Brian Zeldin were key cogs a year ago and Georgia added several arms from the transfer portal and the recruiting class, led by Alabama closer Alton Davis.
