Georgia lands commitment of 2025 four-star OL Mason Short
Georgia didn’t get the news it wanted on Thursday, but the Bulldogs bounced back with another big get for Class of 2025 with four-star interior offensive lineman Mason Short announcing his commitment to the Bulldogs on Friday morning.
At 6-foot-5 and a half, 300 pounds, Short hails from Evans High School in Evans, Georgia. He ranks as the nation’s No. 222 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, as well as the nation’s No. 13 interior offensive lineman. By the same metric, he is considered the No. 30 player in Georgia for rising senior class.
A former Alabama commit, Short decommitted from the Crimson Tide in mid-January, and the winds began to blow heavily for Georgia soon thereafter. The Dawgs fought off Clemson, Kentucky, and Ohio State for his pledge.
“(Georgia coaches) always tell me ‘you must think we’re stupid in believing you are going to sign with Alabama.’ They think they have a good chance to flip me,” Short told BamaOnline’s Andrew Bone of the continued pursuit despite his initial pledge to the Tide. “I have a good relationship with Coach Searles and Coach Smart. Coach Smart calls me a lot. He texts me a lot. I am not only hearing from them; I hear it the hallways at my school from teachers and other students. I hear something about UGA at least once a day.”
Of course, Short knows plenty about the Bulldogs already — much of which centers around their affection for him and consistent contact.

“They breed NFL guys every year and Coach Smart and Coach Searels want to coach me and they let it be known I’m a priority for them with the constant contact with me and my family,” Short told On3’s Chad Simmons of the Dawgs. “From the beginning of my recruitment they let me know in the end I’ll be a Georgia Bulldog.”
Short currently has official visits planned for the summer to see Clemson, Ohio State and Georgia. He becomes the Bulldogs’s sixth commitment of the Class of 2025 and is the first offensive lineman to join the group.
Now, Georgia will turn its attention to the likes of names such as Michael Fasusi, Josh Petty, and David Sanders in the Class of 2025.
In the Class of 2024, the Bulldogs signed six offensive linemen, including Daniel Calhoun, Michael Uini, Marques Easley, Nyier Daniels, Marcus Harrison, and Malachi Toliver.
