June is a huge month of recruiting, and while the Georgia Bulldogs laser focused on the Class of 2026, they’ve also made some headway for the next cycle, as well, landing Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California) wideout Gavin Honore.

A 5-foot-10, 180 pound pass catcher in the 2027 cycle, Honore is currently unranked in the cycle per the On3 Industry Ranking, but he is a three-star prospect per both the rankings of 247 and Rivals.

The Bulldogs overcame other offers from the likes of SMU, Tennessee, and Texas for Honore’s services.

How did Georgia win out for his services? His comments in mid-May to Chad Simmons may have shed some light on how the Bulldogs pulled off their first pledge of the rising junior cycle.

“As I go through the recruiting process, some of the main things that I am looking for in a school are how a program develops its players and the culture there,” Honore told Simmons last month. “Coming from a school like Mater Dei, I am used to the culture being very strong. I feel like that is a big part of where I will be best.

“A program with a great and strong culture is somewhere that I definitely want to be. Also, development is very big for me based on how a school develops players at my position and also, for life.”

The Bulldogs previously landed star running back and rising sophomore Nate Frazier from Mater Dei, as well.

Georgia will be focused on several top names in the Class of 2027, including in-state standouts such as LaDamian Guyton and DJ Jacobs, so stay tuned to DawgsHQ for the latest coverage on it all.

On3 Scouting Report on Gavin Honore

“Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei rising junior Gavin Honore had a four touchdown performance in Hellstar’s showdown with California Power, playing at a high level against a terrific secondary. Georgia and Arkansas offered to start the month and it’s easy to see why.” – On3 Director of Scouting and Recruiting Steve Wiltfong on 2027 wideout Gavin Honore
