Georgia lands former NC State commit Kyron Jones for 2023
The Georgia Bulldogs have reeled in the pledge of one-time NC State commitment Kyron Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina’s Charlotte Christian School.
A 6-foot-and-a-half, 193-pound prospect, Jones originally committed to the Wolfpack on October 1 of this year.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 733 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus, Jones is also considered the No. 56 overall running back in the cycle, as well as the No. 20 prospect in North Carolina per the metric.
While he may be a highly thought of running back, Jones is considered a defensive back for the Bulldogs, and Georgia cornerbacks coach Fran Brown has been leading the charge for the senior.
That approach appears to have benefitted the Bulldogs in a major way for ultimately landing Jones.
“That could play in their favor when talking about longevity and health as a football player. That is something he is really thinking about,” On3’s Chad Simmons shared in an intel piece ahead of the decision.
Jones joins current defensive back commits AJ Harris, Joenel Aguero, Chris Peal, and Justyn Rhett in Georgia’s No. 2 nationally-ranked recruiting class.
He is also the third commitment of the cycle from the Tar Heel State, joining Peal, also of Charlotte, and defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett of Greensboro, North Carolina.

Scouting Report on Kyron Jones
“We knew what we had,” Charlotte Christian coach Jason Estep told the Wolfpacker’s Matt Carter in early November. “I think the camp circuits that he did, I think he proved himself all over again. I think the speed has been there. The elite speed has been sharpened over the past year.”
Of the camp circuit, Carter also pointed to Jones establishing himself heavily during a stop in Raleigh.
“In June while camping, which is when Jones emerged as a legitimate NC State football recruiting target, he posted a 4.5-second 40-yard dash time while also registering a sub 4.3-second shuttle. His jumps may have been most impressive, showcasing an explosiveness with a 10-foot-3 standing broad and 35.3-inch vertical. Any broad jump over 10 feet is considering outstanding.
Jones also has proven track speed. He was a state champion with a 10.6-second 100-meter dash time that was run with a headwind. He also has a personal best of 21.6 seconds in the 200. For some perspective, each one of those times are faster than anything run in track by a current NC State football player on the roster,” Carter said.
