Georgia lands nation's No. 1 cornerback Ellis Robinson IV
The nation’s top cornerback in the Class of 2024 will be a Bulldog, as Consensus five-star defender Ellis Robinson IV of Bradenton, Florida’s IMG Academy announced his commitment to Georgia today.
Robinson, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back originally from New Haven, Connecticut, ranks as the No. 1 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, as well as the No. 7 overall prospect and No. 2 prospect in Florida for the cycle.
He becomes Georgia’s tenth commitment of the junior class and the third defensive back, joining the nation’s No. 2 safety Peyton Woodyard and No. 3 safety Jaylen Heyward.
Alabama, LSU, Miami, and Colorado were among his other finalists.
Robinson spent time in Athens in early January for the National Championship parade, a visit that created the separation needed to secure the commitment.
“Every time I am at Georgia, it feels like I am at home,” Robinson told On3’s Chad Simmons following the trip. “It is that comfort I have at Georgia that keeps me going back. This visit was a little different with all that was going on around the national championship, but I felt the same way. The coaches, the players, the people at Georgia make me feel comfortable. It is a good feeling.”

His bond with the coaching staff, particularly cornerbacks coach Fran Brown, was also a major key.
“Spending time talking to coach Fran Brown, Coach Will Muschamp, and Coach Kirby Smart is always the highlight of my visit,” Robinson told DawgsHQ last fall. “My relationship with them and my parents grow stronger every time I visit.”
For Robinson, the ties have been building for some time, even predating Brown’s arrival in Athens.
“Coach Fran has been solid since they offered me at Rutgers as a freshman,” Robinson told DawgsHQ. “He’s been recruiting me hard consistently. The relationship he has developed with me and my parents is a big factor in Georgia being so high on my list.”
Robinson’s commitment boosts Georgia to being the No.1 rated class in the 2024 cycle over rival Alabama.
On3 Scouting Report on Ellis Robinson IV
Ball-hawking defensive back with elite length and ability to make plays on the ball as a high school underclassman. Dominated competition in New York’s Catholic league as a sophomore, bringing in eight interceptions. Made several impressive, acrobatic picks. Has advanced ball skills as a cornerback, which he pairs with outstanding length. Measured in at 5-foot-11.5, 169 pounds with a 6-foot-7 wing-span prior to his junior season. Also tests as a very good athlete, running a 4.56 second electronically-timed 40-yard dash. Transferred to IMG Academy for his junior season and should see an uptick in competition as a high school upperclassman. – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting
