Georgia loses defensive line commit Stephon Shivers for 2025
Georgia had a big week on the recruiting trail, but on Friday, the Dawgs are now down a commit for the Class of 2025, as big defensive lineman Stephon Shivers has officially decommitted.
A 6-foot-4 and a half, 380 pound senior playing his senior season at Nashville’s Brentwood Academy, Shivers had been committed to Georgia since late March.
“It was like a me coming home type situation,” Shivers said upon committing to Georgia at that time. “This trip was about seeing what I’d be doing, where I’d be, and getting to know everybody. It’s a great place. It’s somewhere I want to be.”
In early October, however, he ‘reopened’ his recruitment while maintaining a spot in the Dawgs’ class.
“I just want to make sure that’s the right place for me,” Shivers told DawgsHQ at that time. “I’m just making sure that everything is good on my end.”

Georgia still holds the commitment of five-star defensive linemen Elijah Griffin, the nation’s No. 1 prospect on the defensive front in 2025, and three-star defender Jayden-Jamal Hanne. The Bulldogs remain heavily in the mix and are considered the odds-on favorite for the likes of five-star prospect Justus Terry, as well.
Stephon Shivers ranks as the nation’s No. 444 overall prospect per the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. He is the nation’s No. 40 defensive lineman and No. 14 prospect in the state of Tennessee for the cycle per the same metric.
Currently, Georgia ranks as the nation’s No. 3 overall class in the 2025 cycle. They have recently added the likes of four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley to the class and four-star wideout Vance Spafford for the Class of 2026.
