Georgia’s class of 2024 is back to square one, as the Bulldogs’ singular commitment of the cycle, Antione Jackson, has flipped his commitment.

Jackson has instead pledged his services to the closer-to-home Hurricanes of Miami.

The nation’s No. 82 overall player in the 2024 On3 Consensus, Jackson had initially pledged his services to Georgia on March 21, on the heels of a strong relationship with a new hire.

The Bulldogs were able to connect with Jackson primarily due to his relationship with his expected positional coach at the next level, Fran Brown.

“The relationship really started when Coach Fran was at Rutgers. He was the DB coach there, and he called my coach and offered me. From there, me and him talked like twice a week, and it’s probably gotten to a daily basis,” Jackson told DawgsHQ. “When he made the transition to Georgia, that’s what really made me fall in love with Georgia. As soon as he got there, I knew the type of guy he was and him being the DB coach and the guy who can coach me for my future. Coach Fran keeps it real with me. He doesn’t try to be someone he’s not when he’s recruiting me. He recruits me as the person he is and he keeps it real with me.”

Instead of playing under Brown, Antione Jackson will now plan to work under Miami’s Jahmile Addae, Georgia’s former defensive backs coach.

Addae lead the secondary during Georgia’s Championship run, primarily working with corners in 2021, but he departed for Coral Gables in early February after a single season in Athens.

The Dawgs will now return to the drawing board in 2024.

In other defensive back news, the Bulldogs added a commitment from four-star cornerback Daniel Harris on Friday.

Harris is Georgia’s third defensive back commitment of the Class of 2023, joining AJ Harris and Justyn Rhett.
