Georgia loses pledge of 2025 four-star CB Tae Harris
The Georgia Bulldogs are down a pledge for the Class of 2025, as four-star cornerback Tae Harris of Cedartown High School (Cedartown, Georgia) reopened his recruitment on Sunday morning.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 231 overall prospect and No. 27 cornerback for the Class of 2025 per the On3 Industry Ranking, Harris had previously been pledged to the Bulldogs since June of 2023.
The 6-foot, 180-pound defender had not been shy about visiting elsewhere since announcing his pledge, however. Florida, LSU, and Tennessee have all played host to Harris over the course of last season and early this year.
Still, he was recently emphatic about his standing with the Bulldogs.
“It’s home,” Harris told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson just over two weeks ago. “I like coach (Kirby) Smart and coach (Will) Muschamp. They recruited me hard as a sophomore. Coach Donte (Williams) is also a pretty good coach.”
It was a familiar refrain to comments he’d made to Johnson in August of last year.
“When I took the visit to Georgia me and my family, I just felt it there,” Harris said at that time. “Georgia is just different. The way they work and the way they do things the right way. I wanted to be a winner and I wanted to be a winner fast. Going into the season I’ve got a lot to focus on like trying to win the state championship. Georgia was the right fit for me. Their defensive back background was pretty good, so I wanted to be a part of it.”

Coaching carousel takes a toll on Tae Harris
Coaching changes, however, have been a consistent thread in the Georgia defensive backfield this offseason, with the addition of Williams and Travaris Robinson being hired as co-defensive coordinator with Muschamp stepping into an analyst role.
“I have been thinking about this for a while now,” Harris told On3’s Chad Simmons of the decision to reopen his process. “Since the coaching change (Fran Brown), things just have been shaky with Georgia, so I want to explore my options a bit more. I am open to all schools now.”
The Bulldogs will now be playing from behind, as it looks as if there is a new list of schools the four-star in-state defender is focused on.
“Some of the schools I am talking to a lot right now are Clemson, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UCF and Georgia Tech,” Harris told Simmons. “Those are just some, but there are others. A lot of schools are pushing for me now.”
