News broke Sunday morning of the passing of Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy. Both were involved in a car crash early Sunday morning roughly 12 hours after the conclusion of Georgia’s championship celebration and parade.

Willock, 20, died at the scene as a result of his injuries while LeCroy, the driver, was transported to a local hospital where she died as a result of her injuries. Two other passengers and members of the Georgia Football program also sustained injuries in the accident including offensive lineman Warren McClendon. He has been released from the hospital per reports.

Willock played in all 15 games for Georgia this past season including two starts. He also played as a reserve in 13 games during the 2021 season. The 6-foot-7, 335-pound native of New Milford, N.J. signed with the Bulldogs in the Class of 2020 before redshirting his first year on campus.

“The entire Georgia family is devastated by the tragic loss of football student-athlete Devin Willock and football staff member Chandler LeCroy. Two other members of the football program were injured in the accident. They are both in stable condition, and we will continue to monitor their status with medical personnel,” wrote the UGA Athletic Association in an official statement. “Devin and Chandler were two special people who meant so much to the University of Georgia, our football program and our athletic department. We ask that everyone keep their families in your prayers during this very difficult time.”

Georgia players and the Athens community – as well as others around College Football – have taken to social media to share their thoughts and prayers.

“These kids become family. When something happens to one of these boys, it feels like one of your own,” Chris Milton, father of running back Kendall Milton, shared. “I cannot imagine the feeling of getting that phone call. My DEEPEST sympathy, condolences and love goes out to the Willock and LeCroy family.”
