Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo under contract through 2026 per report

Mike Bobo signed a one-year extension prior to the 2024 season, putting him under contract at Georgia through the 2026 campaign per a report from Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald. The extension includes built-in raises for both the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Bobo’s current salary is $1.403 million but that will change come July 1 when he gets a $100,000 raise to $1.503 million. His salary will then climb to $1.603 million on that same date in 2026 according to the report.
Bobo just completed the second season of his second stint as the offensive coordinator in Athens. In all, he has spent 10 years at Georgia as offensive coordinator with nine coming from 2007 to 2014. Prior to that he was the quarterbacks coach under Mark Richt from 2001 through 2006. He continued coaching the position once he was promoted to offensive coordinator at the end of the 2006 season.
The offense took a large step back in his second season in terms of points per game, third down, turnovers, and run-game efficacy. The Bulldogs had their worst rushing offense of the Kirby Smart era en route to scoring just 31.5 points per game. That is down over eight points from the previous season when, with Bobo running the show, the Bulldogs ranked No. 5 nationally at 40.1 points per game.

After leading the nation’ in third-down percentage (55.1) in 2023, the Bulldogs fell to No. 78 a year later (39.2 percent). They also averaged less than 12 points per game in the first half over the course of the 2024 season and found themselves in trailing as they entered the third quarter in half their games.
The decline led to criticism from Georgia fans and even some jabs and speculation on the part of media. Paul Finebaum pointed to Bobo as the Bulldogs’ primary problem entering this offseason while 680 The Fan’s Buck Belue reported earlier this winter that Bobo would be stepping down from his post as offensive coordinator. DawgsHQ quickly confirmed that was not true and that Bobo would be back for the 2026 season.
