Georgia offensive lineman Marques Easley to transfer portal

The Georgia offensive line will be down a member entering the 2025 season, as former four-star offensive lineman Marques Easley has declared his intentions for the transfer portal in this spring window.
A native of Peoria, Illinois and a graduate of Kankakee High School, the 6-foot-5, 325 interior lineman was entering his redshirt freshman season with the Bulldogs. Easley ranked as the nation’s No. 247 overall prospect in the Class of 2024, as well as the nation’s No. 17 interior lineman and No. 6 player in the state of Illinois per the On3 Industry Ranking.
While expectations were high for Easley upon arrival to Athens, he was featured in only two games his freshman season, playing against Tennessee Tech and Massachusetts.
Unfortunately, the offseason created issues for Easley.
According to a report from the Georgia State Patrol, an officer responded to an accident in the Northeast portion of Oconee County, near the Athens-Clarke County line. Three cars were involved in the accident but Easley was the driver of the 2021 Dodge Challenger that caused all the damage.
The report stated that Easley’s vehicle was traveling west on Redwood Lane in a “reckless disregard.” His car lost control with the back end twisting clockwise, leaving the roadway. It first struck a Walton EMC power box. Then the driver’s side of Easley’s car hit the passenger side of the Hyundai, which then struck the Mercedes-Benz in a similar manner.

After hitting the Hyundai, Easley’s vehicle’s momentum took him into the front of 1313 Redwood Lane where it came to rest. The Georgia offensive linemen told officers that he was traveling around 25 to 30 miles per hour.
Further investigation into the crash determined that Easley’s account was not accurate. The tire marks and evidence suggest that Easley was “laying drag,” which, in the state of Georgia, means operating a vehicle in such a manner as to cause it to fishtail or move in a circular pattern (donuts).
According to the report, there were six total passengers in the vehicle. That includes Easley, who sustained minor injuries after the airbag was deployed. He was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional. None of the other five persons in the vehicle were injured.
Marques Easley is the latest entry into the portal for the Bulldogs, joining fourth-year junior running back Branson Robinson.
