Georgia offers 2023 running back Christopher Johnson Jr.
It’s safe to say an offer from the Bulldogs shook things up in a big way for three-star running back Christopher Johnson Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s Dillard High School.
Johnson received an offer from Georgia on Saturday afternoon, revealing the news via Twitter around 1:30 PM.
At that time, he was committed to the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers.
By 6:45, that was no longer the case.
Johnson tweeted a screenshot saying:
“I will be decommitting from the University of Rutgers (sic). I am open to all schools now.”
Johnson had previously been committed to Rutgers since March 23.
Christopher Johnson the latest example of Fran Brown’s work in south Florida?
Though Johnson was committed to the Scarlet Knights, he’s now got a familiar face from that staff to turn to in Athens.
Fran Brown, Georgia’s recently hired cornerbacks coach, has been the primary recruiter for the south of the Sunshine State.

That’s included Johnson’s home base of Dillard High, where the Dawgs recently secured a commitment from 2024 defensive back and Johnson’s teammate Antoine Jackson.
Dillard head coach Tyler Tate recently shared his thoughts on Brown’s work with DawgsHQ:
“Even though he’s from the northeast, he’s relatable to the people in south Florida. The number one thing about Coach Fran is that he’s honest, and down in here in south Florida, the one thing we truly respect is coaches who will come down here and be honest,” Tate said. “He’s always been genuine. He’s been himself. He’s just honest. If there’s a kid he really likes, he’s going to tell you. If there’s a kid who he doesn’t feel is a good fit for him, he’ll tell you. He won’t waste your time. He’s honest and straightforward. He’s genuine, and that’s the kind of man we like coming down here. Georgia made an unbelievable hire getting Coach Fran, because he’s going to do a hell of a job down here in south Florida.”
