Georgia remains the top-ranked team in the country as College Football turns the page to Week 3, and if things stand for the next month-plus, we’ll be looking at a 1 vs. 2 battle in Austin.

The Bulldogs lead the way over Texas – who jumped Ohio State for the No. 2 spot after a big road win over Michigan – with 54 of 63 total votes, down from 57 last week. The Longhorns received four votes for the top spot while the Buckeyes hold five.

Alabama comes in at No. 4 ahead of its trip to Madison, Wisconsin while Ole Miss is up into the top-5. Georgia will play both of those two teams later this season with the date against the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa coming up later this month.

Texas, Alabama and Ole Miss aren’t the only top-10 teams Georgia will play. A newcomer in the top-10 is Tennessee, rising seven spots after a 41-point win over NC State. The Vols come in at No. 7 with Missouri at No. 6. Of the top seven spots, six are held by SEC teams.

Carson Beck helped lead UGA to a dominant win on Saturday as the Bulldogs defeated Tennessee Tech 48-3 in their home opener. Beck connected on his first 11 passes of the game for 116 yards and two touchdowns, finding seven different receivers in the process.

It was the start of what was a special day for the second-year starter as he tied a school record with five touchdown passes in the game. Running back Trevor Etienne made his Georgia debut while Branson Robinson returned to the end zone after a ruptured patella tendon kept him out all of 2023. UGA’s defense did its job, keeping the opponent out of the end zone for a second straight game.

Georgia takes to the road this Saturday to open SEC play as the Bulldogs make the trip to Kentucky. The Wildcats fell in ugly fashion against South Carolina on Saturday with a potential College GameDay trip to Lexington on the line. Kickoff time for action at Kroger Field is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
