2024 was a year of ups and downs for redshirt junior Earnest Greene. He entered last season as a staple on Georgia’s offensive line.

In 2023, Greene started all 14 games. He was named First-Team Freshman All-American by The Athletic. Greene was a part of an offensive line that helped Georgia’s offense finish second in the SEC and fifth in the nation in total offense (496.5), offensive passing efficiency (168.21), and scoring offense (40.1).

2024 had a different tenure. He started nine games and played in 11 for Georgia. Greene was still named Third-Team All-SEC. A shoulder injury took him out of a few games in the middle of the season. During that time, Monroe Freeling took over the starting left tackle job and didn’t let go of it.

This spring, Greene moved to right tackle and appears to have reestablished himself among Georgia’s starters. He did suffer a hand injury this spring but was able to take part in G-Day.

Greene is already looking toward the off-season. He’s thought spring was a positive operation for him but there is more to do.

“I’m always going to say everybody can get better, so my spring, I’m not content with it,” Greene said after G-Day. “I’ll just get back to the drawing board, look at everything and try to clean everything up, tighten everything up.”

Earnest Greene wants to put his best foot forward

When Greene has been healthy, he’s been productive for Georgia. He wants to stay healthy as well as not overlook anything as he prepares for a big junior season.

“I have a few months before camp starts and the season too, I’ll really get a few months to attack everything that I really want to personally and be the best player that I can be,” Greene said.

Georgia will open the 2025 season with Marshall on Aug. 30 at Sanford Stadium.
