Georgia picks up commitment from 4-star DB Zech Fort
Georgia locked up the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class for the 2025 cycle on Thursday and it also grabbed its fifth commitment for the 2026 class. IMG Academy safety Zech Fort committed to the Bulldogs over dozens of offers and a top six that also included Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.
At 5-foot-10 170 pounds, Fort is currently the nation’s No. 102 overall prospect and No. 11 safety per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He’s the No. 18 player in the Sunshine State.
Fort is originally from Southern California where he met Georgia cornerbacks coach Donte Williams. Those two have been forming a relationship for years and it likely played a role in the commitment. Georgia safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson was also involved.
It was just over a week ago when Fort locked in an official visit to Georgia. He told On3’s National Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons that he would be visiting Athens on June 13. As of right now, it’s the only official visit he has set up.

Georgia’s pitch to Fort is similar to many before him. The Bulldogs are leading with development and the players they’ve put in the NFL. The fact that the head coach played the same position as the four-star prospect certainly isn’t hurting matters.
“Coach Smart played safety at Georgia, so to be coached by someone who played the same position as me would be great,” Fort told Simmons. “That is something I have always looked at in schools. Georgia also produces players to the NFL Draft every year too. They have top picks each year, so they really develop their players. That is big for me.”
The addition of Fort gives Georgia a trio of four-star prospects in the 2026 class and two defensive backs. Fellow California native Vance Spafford (Santa Margarita) is the Bulldogs’ highest- ranked commitment at No. 76 overall. Jonesboro (Jonesboro, Ga.) cornerback Jontavius Wyman is No. 155 overall.
