Georgia players and fans LOST IT after the Peach Bowl: WATCH

I think Georgia fans went almost as crazy as Georgia players did at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Dawgs welcomed 2023 in thrilling fashion with a Peach Bowl win over Ohio State.

And many of those in attendance at the Benz won’t forget it any time soon.

I did watch the kick from my spot on the field, but I didn’t have to.

As soon as that ball left Noah Ruggles‘s foot, the crowd told me all I needed to know about its trajectory:

This was a win that seemed to surprise Georgia’s fans slightly more than Georgia’s players

When I spoke with Georgia’s players after their 42-41 CFP Semifinal win over Ohio State, they all told me essentially the same thing:

‘We knew we were capable of putting adversity behind us and winning this football game.’

Well, I think all of the Georgia fans in Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s record attendance would like to say that they believed the same thing.

But I saw their long faces for most of the 59 minutes and 52 seconds of that game before Ruggles’s kick.

And I saw their joyful, New Year’s glow faces after it.

And just because Georgia’s players believed they could win doesn’t mean they weren’t overjoyed to actually watch it happen.

Check it out in this postgame montage.

There are some really special scenes from a truly special Peach Bowl.

The players and fans weren’t the only ones soaking up this Peach Bowl New Year, though

I roamed the field to verbally process my thoughts for a postgame ‘report.’

While I saw several Bulldogs along the way, there were plenty of other surprise appearances who made this a special trip around the turf.

My daughter is two years old and a massive fan of Hairy Dawg.

I learned tonight that Hairy Dawg is also a massive fan of everyone in his vicinity after a win like this – even me.

My girl’s going to be either very impressed or very jealous. I can’t wait to find out which.

Mike Bobo and Dell McGee pop up. So does ESPN’s Marty Smith and every happy Bulldog football player and fan I could film.

Yes, Georgia still has one more game to win.

But when you stare down a season-ending defeat for most of the game, and find a way to sidestep it at the very end, it’s always celebration-worthy.

Until the Dawgs’ 24 hours is up, of course.

But I think y’all can nurse this one a little while longer.
