Georgia QB Ryan Puglisi to soak in G-Day, showcase progress

Georgia quarterback Ryan Puglisi was on crutches this time last year. He did not get a chance to compete on G-Day. He missed much of spring practices as well.
This year, he’s battled Gunner Stockton for the right to be Georgia’s next quarterback. Stockton has remained the number one through spring work but Puglisi is running the race his way.
The former blue-chip signee hasn’t played a snap of college football yet.
Saturday is his chance to put a punctuation on his first full spring practice of work in Georgia’s system. Puglisi feels the quarterback position is one of service, that’s what he wants to do for his playmakers on Saturday.
He’ll also take some time to take in being in front of the Georgia fans for the first time.
“Anytime you get to wear pads and play in Sanford Stadium in front of your fans and stuff like that is a blessing,” Puglisi told reporters on Tuesday. “I think just being able to go out there and soak up the moment, play with all my guys around me, and obviously, as a quarterback’s job, it’s just your job to serve others. Whatever I have to do out there, I just want to serve others and get the ball to the playmakers.”
Second spring shows growth
Puglisi feels he’s grown a ton in the last year in Athens.
“I think it’s been a pretty good spring so far,” Puglisi told reporters. “There are the ups and downs of the spring. Everybody is trying to learn different things. I think from where I am right now in the spring to where I was last year, obviously with the injury, I think I progressed a little bit. Being in the offense for a good amount of time now, everything’s starting to slow down, making faster decisions. I think it’s been really good for now.”

Ryan Puglisi’s development goes beyond the on-the-field production
Puglisi has also spent his freshman year and this spring working to build relationships that can translate to connections on the field. It shows off the field. Walking into the media room on Tuesday, Puglisi passed outside linebacker Quintavius Johnson and the two exchanged a personalized handshake.
“I think we talk about it all the time in our program connection,” Puglisi said. “I think that’s not just something we talk about, it’s what we’re about here at Georgia. I think anytime you can sit with someone else or someone new at lunch or any type of meal and get to know somebody and get to know why they do what they do, it’s special. I think just meeting new people, not just hanging out with quarterbacks, not just hanging out with wide receivers but also hanging out with the linemen on the defensive side, just trying to get to know as many people as you can. “
Confidence is key
Puglisi believes in himself. He was asked if he believed he could be Georgia’s starter today. He said yes.
“Yeah, I definitely think I can, I could right now, definitely,” Puglisi said. “I think if you’re in the quarterback position if you don’t believe that you can go play, you should probably do something else because you need some confidence.”
