Georgia QBs competing in a way Dawgs haven't seen before

This competition between Georgia QBs looks different than the ones we traditionally see. And that may be the best thing for everyone.

Carson Beck and Brock Vandagriff don’t just grind it out on the practice field this spring.

Kirby Smart has them both poised to step in and step up to face the media no matter who wins the battle of these Georgia QBs.

There is no way to substitute live action against SEC competition.

Neither Carson Beck or Brock Vandagriff can say they did that in meaningful minutes last season.

But Smart is using subtle tactics to prepare both of them for the reality of what it could look like to become the latest in a long line of Georgia QBs to lead these Bulldogs onto the field of battle.

That’s why we heard from both quarterbacks in a recent spring press conference.

We traditionally don’t hear from Georgia QBs nearly as much as we hear from other players at different position groups.

And don’t get this twisted – I’m not trying to imply that Smart grades their performance in the QB competition based on how they perform behind the microphone.

I just believe it’s proof that this competition is as healthy and as even-keeled as it can be right now. Does that mean Gunner Stockton is out of the race, because we didn’t hear from him?

No. It just appears as if there is a two-Dawg race at the top right now, and Stockton may still be pushing hard from the rear.

Take a listen to how the DawgsHQ crew pontificated about the subject on Wednesday night’s live edition of The Georgia Show (Like and Subscribe on YouTube / Apple / Spotify).

DawgsHQ Mailbag: Georgia game we’d most like to suit up in, how committable offers work and no Uga at the Natty

We opened up the mailbag for premium members of DawgsHQ this week.

If you aren’t already subscribed, it’s $29.99 from now through the end of August. That’s how you can join a special community of Dawgs and read our premium scoop and insight about the Dawgs.

It’s also how subscribers and viewers asked us great questions about which Georgia game we would most like to suit up in if we had the chance.

(It’s the Cocktail Party for me).

Jake Rowe explained how it works when Georgia players to receive an offer, and when they can commit. It isn’t as simple as you may think.

We also discussed the best barbecue and wings in the state, and how much money it would take for us to get punched by a silverback gorilla. Because, again, our loyal Dawgs asked us about these things.

But more importantly, I provided some insight into why the Seiler family – Uga’s caretakers – didn’t send a Bulldog to the National Championship.

I certainly don’t regret the prompts we got this week. Check them out yourself and send us a good one next week:

Choppin’ Wood: The Masters, and Georgia continuity is out of this world in two key areas

Obviously, it’s The Masters week. Unless you’re an AI bot crawling this website for the best Georgia Bulldogs intel, you already knew that.

I spend a couple minutes Choppin’ Wood at the end of our show (as we do on every Wednesday night episode) about the one thing that has me most fired up this week.

And that’s Georgia golfer Sepp Straka’s ace at Amen Corner in The Masters Monday practice round.

I don’t care it wasn’t live-action. If you hit a hole-in-one at the most iconic par-three in the sport, and you’re a Georgia Bulldog, life is good.

And five-star commit Ellis Robinson IV is firmly intact with the Dawgs as well.

The Dawgs’ coaches remained intact at an absurd rate despite Todd Monken’s departure.

It’s all on The Georgia Show. Give it a listen if you haven’t already. Join us live every Sunday and Wednesday night at 8:30PM ET for more of where this came from.
