Georgia recruiting operations get spotlight in latest 'Behind the G'
For several weeks now, Georgia football has been giving a behind-the-scenes look at several aspects of the program that are normally out of the public eye with the ‘Behind the G’ series.
In the latest installment, the spotlight was on the quarter of Logen Reed, Angela Kirkpatrick, Kadeem Wise, and David Cooper.
While those names may not be oft-discussed by Georgia fans, the group has been instrumental in the success of the program, as they are largely responsible for the lifeblood of the program — recruiting.
“A summary of my role would be hosting recruits and making sure their experience here is the best of the best,” Reed said of her title as associate director of recruiting operations.
Kirkpatrick, another associate director of recruiting, echoed the sentiments.
“I would say I’m an event planner for football recruiting,” she said. “When kids come on their visit, I put all their meetings together. The tours, the photo shoots, all the academic meetings.”
But that’s not what takes precedent for Kirkpatrick.
“Our first job is to recruit these guys. It’s to talk to these moms and talk to these families. We talk to these guys, get to know them, and learn everything about them,” she said. “Then, we show them everything that the university has to offer. We’re trying to make sure they know we love them just as much as we want them to be a part of the family.”

It’s clear that the familial aspect is on the mind of everyone.
“Eating with them if I can, or Malaki [Starks] or a couple of other guys will come sit in my office,” she said. “They come visit with me, and that’s so rewarding to me. It’s just like we’re family.”
For Cooper, the Georgia director of recruiting relations, there is a tie that binds the entire ‘family’.
“The best part of my job is being able to come in and work with such an elite staff. From top to bottom, I feel like everyone is tapped in,” he said. “We’re all trying to accomplish the same thing, which is to be elite.”
Wise shares those notions, as well.
“I think something that makes this place really special is just the standard here. From the time you hit the door, everyone wants to be elite. No matter who it is, they want you to be your best and will try and help you be your best,” he said. “That’s the standard. That’s from the janitors to the chefs. Everybody wants to help, and everyone wants to be elite.”
