Georgia reportedly adds veteran DL coach Jimmy Brumbaugh to staff

Georgia is set to add a coach to its defensive staff just a few days after the end of spring practice. Matt Zenitz of CBSSports reports that long-time defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh is expected to join the Bulldogs.
Brumbaugh started his coaching career 21 years ago at Jacksonville State. He has held jobs all over the country, mostly coaching defensive line. He has also worked as a strength and conditioning coach.
After a year at Jacksonville State, Brumbaugh worked at LSU as an assistant strength coach for two seasons. He was there when the Tigers won a National Championship in 2007. He left the Tigers after that season but stayed in the Bayou State for two more seasons, taking the defensive line coaching job at Louisiana Tech.
He took the defensive line coaching job at Syracuse in 2010 and then focused on defensive tackle for The Orange the following season. From there he went to the junior college ranks where he spent one season coaching defensive line and working with the strength and conditioning program at East Mississippi Community College.
A four-year stint at Kentucky followed that stop. He was in Lexington from 2013 to 2016, the longest stop of his coaching career. Once leaving the Wildcats, Brumbaugh spent two seasons at Maryland as co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. He moved out west for the 2019 season, working at Colorado for one year.

Brumbaugh was at Tennessee in 2020 as the co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. The 2021 season saw him move out to Oregon where he worked with Dan Lanning and the Ducks for one season as a defensive analyst. He made the move back to his alma mater, Auburn, for the 2022 season. After coaching the defensive line for one year on The Plains, Brumbaugh was let go and moved on to Coastal Carolina where he coached for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
It is unclear exactly what his role will be at Georgia but the Bulldogs have a veteran defensive line coach in place. Tray Scott has held that post since the 2017 season. Brumbaugh appears headed for a support-staff role.
As a player, Brumbaugh was an All-SEC performer for the Tigers. He spent five seasons (1995-1999) at Auburn where he piled up nearly 300 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 15 sacks.
