Wednesday’s commitment of five-star cornerback Ellis Robinson IV moved Georgia past Alabama for the No. 1 spot in the Class of 2024. It’s early, but the Bulldogs already have 10 commitments under their belt including six players ranked inside the top-50 of the On3 Consensus and are heavily in on several others as well.

Robinson, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound New Haven, Conn. native who plays at IMG Academy, chose Georgia over the Crimson Tide along with Penn State and Miami, among others. He’s ranked the No. 2 player in the nation according to On3 and No. 7 overall per the industry-generated Consensus, sitting in the top spot for cornerbacks according to both.

Robinson joins the likes of Peyton Woodyard (St. John Bosco; Bellflower, Calif.) and Jaylen Heyward (Rockledge; Rockledge, Fla.) in the Georgia secondary already. Both ranked top-3 safeties according to the Consensus, Woodyard and Heyward committed to Georgia within a week of each other during the month of January. Linebacker Demarcus Riddick (Chilton County; Clanton, Ala.) is also in the class on the defensive side of the football, choosing Georgia over home-state Alabama in November.

Meanwhile, on the offensive side of the football, Georgia added a commitment over the weekend. The nation’s No. 6 athlete and No. 85 overall player, Dwight Phillips Jr. (Pebblebrook; Mableton, Ga.), announced his pledge to the Bulldogs during a visit to Athens on Saturday. Phillips, who’s known for his speed running a 40 in the 4.2 range, is expected to play running back where Georgia also has Tovani Mizell (DeMatha Catholic; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) committed already. Both are top-100 players per the Consensus.

Phillips and Mizell aren’t the only two on offense either. In fact, there’s weapons all over the field already committed. Tight end Landen Thomas (Colquitt County; Moultrie, Ga.), ranked No. 24 overall and No. 1 among players at his position, and wide receivers Ny Carr (Colquitt County; Moultrie, Ga.) and Sacovie White (Cass; Cartersville, Ga.) give Georgia fans something to get excited about with the passing game. So too does quarterback Ryan Puglisi (Avon Old Farms; Avon, Conn.) coming in at No. 38 overall and No. 3 among quarterbacks according to the On300.

Things are far from finished with the Class of 2024 a year away from National Signing Day for the rising seniors. However, that gives Georgia plenty of opportunities too to continue to build momentum on the recruiting trail using its back-to-back National Championships as a pitch. The Bulldogs are heavily pursuing several of the top players in the country, including, but not limited to: Dylan Raiola, Mike Matthews, KJ Bolden, Collin Simmons, Jerrick Gibson, Sammy Brown, Eddrick Houston and Justin Scott just in the top-20. Expect Georgia to land more talent in the Class of 2024 as Kirby Smart continues to establish his program as one of the most dominant in the entire country, and don’t be surprised when the Bulldogs are at or near the top once again come the close of the cycle.
