Georgia just won the SEC Championship: Watch us talk the highs and lows

Georgia’s SEC Championship game victory had plenty of highs. It also had some lows, and some weird in-betweens.

But look, when you win your first SEC Championship since 2017, and your first after three straight defeats in Atlanta, all you want to do is celebrate.

Stetson Bennett certainly has some stuff to celebrate after this game.

And he might need a tuxedo at a certain awards presentation in New York this month as part of those party plans.

I also spoke to the players immediately after this game, and there was a common theme among their answers when I asked them how it felt to be a champion:

‘It feels great, but we have two more games to win.’

All of those roads are there for Georgia.

No matter who the Dawgs’ opponent happens to be in the College Football Playoff semifinal, this team will give them all they can handle.

But first, let’s take a look at how they earned this confetti in Atlanta. DawgsHQ Senior Editor Jake Rowe and I broke it all down from The Benz.

Stetson Bennett played the game of his life, and he should be a Heisman candidate

You know the Mailman’s story by now.

We just keep learning new things about it in incredibly meaningful games.

Yes, he has his lows. Georgia seemed to bottle him up to run the clock out on the season and manage his load a bit before the SEC Championship game and the postseason run.

But man, look at what he’s done.

Orange Bowl Offensive MVP.

National Championship Offensive MVP.

SEC Championship MVP.

The dude just wins. I told him after the game I would see him in New York. I don’t know if I’ll actually be there or not.

But I believe he will be.

Now, for the weird stuff…

Christopher Smith picked up a field goal attempt off the Mercedes-Benz Stadium turf that Nazir Stackhouse blocked.

It seemed like an eternity as the ball slowly wobbled back and forth on all those rubber pellets.

Mercifully, Smith picked up the wounded duck, and returned it all the way for Georgia’s first touchdown of the game.

And that’s not the only odd ball facet of this one.

Georgia’s defense looked utterly befuddled in moments, as it surrendered 30 points in the win.

Many fans piled on cornerback Kelee Ringo as LSU quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier slung it around the SEC Championship.

But Jake Rowe is always ready to pack a surprise, and an interesting observation about issues that seem obvious. As he points out in our convo, Ringo wasn’t the only culprit in some of these busts.

I was also impressed with the Tigers’ toughness on the offensive line, despite giving up a million and a half sacks this season.

They played well. Georgia played better.

Enjoy the win. Listen to The Georgia Show. We’ll see y’all again Sunday night, LIVE on the DawgsHQ YouTube channel.
