Georgia secures commitment of in-state safety Kealan Jones

The Georgia Bulldogs kicked off G-Day in a most positive way, with three-star safety Kealan Jones announcing his commitment on Saturday morning.
Ticking the tape at near 6-feet tall and 180 pounds, the Sprayberry product becomes the sixth commitment of the Class of 2026 for the Bulldogs and the second defensive back in the class, joining four-star safety Zech Fort.
While the likes of Auburn, Michigan, Florida, and Ole Miss were in the mix, Jones opted for the in-state team, though the decision likely did not come as a surprise to those who’d been following his recruitment for some time.
“I have really good connections with the coaches, T-Rob, coach Thack (Andrew Thacker), and I’ve been up there a couple of times and I feel confident in the plan that they might have for me if I went there,” Jones told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson late last month.
That multi-headed approach from the staff in Athens clearly struck a chord with the rising senior, as it showcased to Jones where he fit into the defensive back conversation for the Bulldogs.

“I like how Georgia takes an initiative to let me know I’m a priority and not just any other recruit,” Jones said recently. “I like how they are consistent about talking to me and showing true interest. They’re also telling me I’m in the top priority group of safeties.”
From a self-proclaimed family of Georgia fans, Jones received his offer from the Dawgs earlier this year, and despite strong pushes from the likes of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Duke Blue Devils, he decided that the opportunity to play for Kirby Smart’s program was too much to pass up.
While Jones is now on board, the Bulldogs don’t look to be slowing down at the spot, as they are set to host four-star Jireh Edwards, a top fifty prospect in the nation, for his official visit this weekend, as well.
Kealan Jones ranks as the nation’s No. 975 overall prospect in the Class of 2026 per the On3 Industry Ranking.
