The Georgia Bulldogs added a standout defensive back to the Class of 2025 on Sunday in Shamari Earls. On Monday, he gained a new running mate in the secondary as four-star safety Jaylan Morgan announced his pledge to the Dawgs.

Morgan is Georgia’s nineteenth commitment of the cycle and is the third defensive back, joining Earls and Valdosta athlete Todd Robinson.

A 5-foot-11 and a half, 190-pound defender, Morgan hails from Murfreesboro, Tennessee’s Rockvale High School. He currently ranks as the No. 252 overall prospect for the Class of 2025 per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is the No. 24 safety and No. 5 prospect in Tennessee for the class.

Morgan chose the Bulldogs over a final group of Mississippi State, Florida, and Ole Miss and held offers from the likes of Alabama and Tennessee, as well.

A key component of that decision? The time he spent in Athens changed his view on the Dawgs a great deal.

“Those visits were different,” Morgan told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson of his trips. “When I visited Georgia, they had specific activities for us to do. It caught my eye. The scavenger hunt, I hadn’t seen anything like that before. I thought that was a good way to see how the coaches coaching styles were. You got to see how competitive they are. I think that Georgia has something strong going for them. They preach the vision of their program and I love that.”

And that vision includes prospects just like Morgan, something the staff was sure to reinforce when he was on campus.

“They wanted me at Georgia and wanted to find smart, instinctive players and players that are great on and off the field, and I fit that mold,” Morgan told Johnson.

Georgia will now turn its focus to four-star safety Rashad Johnson, who is set to announce his commitment on July 14. Currently, the Bulldogs are an 81.6-percent favorite to land Johnson’s services per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
