Georgia set to land SEC transfer WR London Humphreys
The transfer portal taketh, and the transfer portal giveth. Georgia is expected to be on the receiving end of a portal pickup as it is set to land the commitment of former Vanderbilt wide receiver London Humphreys. The explosive wideout’s transfer to UGA is not yet official but sources tell DawgsHQ that details are being finalized.
Just a freshman this past season, Humphreys comes to Athens with four years to play three. The 6-foot-3, 186 pound Nashville native hauled in 22 passes for 439 yards and four touchdowns this season for the Commodores. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman team at season’s end.
Humphreys was held without a reception in just three of their 12 games and became the first freshman in program history to record back-to-back games with more than 100 receiving yards, doing so against Wake Forest and UNLV. He earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors for the performance against the Demon Deacons.
Humphreys ranks fifth in receiving yards by a freshman at Vanderbilt since 2008 and tied for second-most receiving touchdowns by a freshman in that same time. Furthermore, he might be a familiar name for Georgia fans as he scored a 49-yard touchdown on the opening drive against the Bulldogs.
A three-star recruit out of Christ Presbyterian Academy (Nashville, Tenn.), the same school as 2024 Georgia cornerback commit Ondre Evans, Humphreys recorded over 1,000 receiving yards during both his junior and senior seasons. He also was a standout on the track where he owns a regional-record 21.73 in the 200-meter dash previously held by Jalen Ramsey. Humphrey’s father, Clark, was an All-American pole vaulter at Auburn while mother, Erin, was an All-American decathlete at South Carolina.

It’s the second straight season that the Bulldogs have gone to the transfer portal for help at wide receiver. Last year, Georgia added SEC transfers Rara Thomas (Mississippi State) and Dominic Lovett (Missouri) by way of the portal. The duo combined for 74 catches and almost 1,000 yards on the season as they found the end zone four times. Both were top-5 pass catchers in terms of yardage for Georgia in 2023.
More on the transfer portal…
The NCAA student-athlete transfer portal launched in 2018. It marked a change from when student-athletes had to get a release from their school to transfer to another and they could be limited as to where they transferred. The portal allows student athletes to simply notify their current school and its compliance department that they intend to move on to another program.
Since its implementation, Georgia has added several notable prospects. That list includes Lawrence Cager (Miami), Eli Wolf (Tennessee), Tre’ McKitty (Florida State), Derion Kendrick (Clemson), Tykee Smith (West Virginia), Rara Thomas (Mississippi State) and Dominic Lovett (Missouri), among others. The Bulldogs have had years when they’ve been active in the portal, attempting to take as many as four prospects before the 2021 season. They have also had seasons like 2022 when they didn’t take a single player and went on to go 15-0 and win the National Championship for a second straight season.
Portal needs for Georgia in the current class include defensive line and wide receiver, where it is expected to land multiple players at each position. The Bulldogs could also be in the market at running back, outside linebacker, offensive tackle, or safety. If a player wants to transfer from SEC school to SEC school, he must do so by January 2 when the current window closes. There is another window that will open in the spring but, at that point, a player must transfer in from outside the conference.
