It doesn’t appear as if Georgia will be skipping its spring game in 2025. While several other teams have made it known that they will not have such a game, the Bulldogs announced that their game will begin at 1 p.m. ET on April 12. The date had already been announced but the time had not.

Gates will open at 10:30 a.m. ET and parking will be free with lots opening at 7 a.m. ET. Georgia is charging $10 apiece for tickets, which will go on sale to the general public on March 30. The game will not be televised.

Nebraska, Texas, USC, and Florida State have all elected to skip spring games. There are various reasons being given ranging from lack of rest after long seasons to protecting the roster from transfer portal poaching.

Kirby Smart doesn’t appear to have an issue with either of those things. He does, however, acknowledge that things are touch-and-go every spring now due to how tough it can be to retain the roster.

“My approach has been, I like to have spring football games,” Smart said on the first day of spring practice. “Every year, we make that decision based on where we are. We haven’t even practiced yet, so it would be remiss if I said 100 percent, I’m dead-set, we’re having a spring game. I leave every option open. That’s my 15th practice. So we can do what we want to do.

“We’re planning to have a spring game. I’ve talked with Josh Brooks several times about it. We’ve had conversation, but that doesn’t mean that can’t change. Last year, I think Kentucky didn’t have any defensive linemen healthy. They weren’t able to have a spring game. We don’t know. I can’t forecast the future to know exactly what’s going to happen 15 days from now.”

This year’s G-Day spring scrimmage will offer a glimpse into a quarterback battle. Gunner Stockton has a big lead for the starting job but Ryan Puglisi will have a chance to close the gap in the coming weeks. A strong showing in the spring game, one that he missed last season, would go a long way toward helping close that gap.
