Georgia sweeps Peach State with win over Kennesaw State

Athens, Ga – Georgia rehashed a brewing confrontation on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs defeated Kennesaw State 9-2 at Foley Field. The win moved Georgia to 36-11 overall this season. The win also closed the in-state rival portion of the season.

Georgia finishes with a 5-0 record against in-state opponents in 2025. The Bulldogs bested the Owls back on Feb. 18 in a game that saw some chirping between the two teams.

The Owls jumped on top first with a run in the first inning. It was all Georgia after that. The Bulldogs got a run in the first, another two in the second, and single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings.

Georgia has used the home run ball a lot this season. They lead the country in home runs with 112 this season. They got one long ball from Robbie Burnett in the sixth inning on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs leaned on the little things to get their offense going early in Tuesday’s game. Georgia got a first-inning single from Kolby Branch to plate their first run in the first inning. Slate Alford plated two runs with a double in the second inning.

A sacrifice fly from Daniel Jackson drove in a run in the third inning and a wild pitch drove in a run in the fifth. Georgia added two more in the seventh with a triple from Slate Alford. Another run scored on a wild pitch.

Georgia’s pitching led the way. The Bulldogs started Charlie Goldstein. He allowed one run and two hits while striking out two hitters in his only inning of work.

Georgia used nine pitchers to cover the nine innings on Tuesday. Jordan Stephens, Nate Taylor, Paul Farley, Alton Davis, Matthew Hoskins, Eric Hammond, Justin Byrd and Davis Chastain all got work on Tuesday. The group combined to hold Kennesaw to four hits on the day.

Stephens gets credited with the win, his fourth of the season.

What’s next for Georgia?

The Bulldogs will get back into SEC play this weekend. This time they will hit the road. The Bulldogs will travel to Columbia to face Missouri in a three-game series running from Friday to Sunday.

Game one gets going at 7 p.m.
