Georgia-TCU: Three Keys to Victory for the Bulldogs
LOS ANGELES — It’s game day in L.A. as Georgia takes on TCU for the National Championship. The Dawgs are 14-0 on the season and looking to finish off their perfect campaign in style. Meanwhile, the Horned Frogs would love nothing more than to spoil the party for the potential back-to-back champs by winning their first title in over 80 years. A stage like this calls for big time players to make big time plays. A team effort will be required in order to win. Here are three things that we think are key to a Georgia victory.
Limit Negative Plays on Offense, Big Plays on Defense
Looking at Georgia’s semifinal game against Ohio State, a couple of poor plays on offense and defense were what got the Dawgs down 14 twice throughout the game. Georgia is going to want to limit those tonight on offense and defense and play an overall clean football game. Look to Stetson Bennett and the offensive line to try and make that happen on offense with smart decisions and following through on the game plan that Todd Monken has while the pressure is once again put on the secondary to keep the likes of Quinton Johnston in check defensively.

Keep an Eye on Max Duggan
There’s a reason Max Duggan was a Heisman Trophy finalist. Much like Stetson Bennett and unlike guys in the Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Caleb Williams family of quarterbacks, he’s not somebody that’ll be high on NFL Draft boards. But what Duggan does is play hard and win. He is more than willing to put his body on the line for this team, one that he cares so much about. And in what will be his last game as a Horned Frog, I’d expect to see an emotional Duggan no matter how the game goes. With just 60 minutes left in his TCU career, there will be no hesitation to take off and pick up hard yards with his legs if he needs to. That’s why Georgia needs to keep an eye on him in that second level and get home with its pass rush from the defensive line and edge defenders.
Execution All Around
This sounds simple, and it is. Execution is always necessary, but mistakes in execution are bigger and bigger as the stage gets bigger and bigger. It doesn’t get any bigger than it is tonight. I said this in my predictions and there’s really no denying this just looking at the rosters: Georgia is the more talented team. If it executes in all facets, the Bulldogs should come away with a win, but make a few mistakes and it opens the door for TCU to create some drama.
