Georgia – Tennessee more than a CFP Play-In: The Georgia Show
Georgia and Tennessee combine for a College Football Playoff elimination game of sorts. Depending on who you ask, anyway.
Number-one Tennessee has a stronger schedule than #3 Georgia. Ohio State‘s ‘eye test’ is reportedly better than Georgia’s.
The beautiful thing about it is, next week’s CFP rankings hinge upon the outcome of this weekend’s game.
None of those distinguishing resumé points, whether it’s strength of schedule or game control, matter once this game is over. The winner clearly deserves to be there.
Will they matter for this game’s loser?
Maybe. A one-loss Dawgs may need some help. A one-loss Tennessee team figures to still have a decent shot.
We discuss it right out of the gates on The Georgia show.

Let’s dive in to the Dawgs.
Is Georgia’s crowd noise intimidating enough for the Tennessee tempo offense?
First, we had Kirby Smart telling Georgia fans to make noise at the Tennessee game on Twitter.
Then former Vols quarterback Erik Ainge poked the bear and said it isn’t intimidating for visiting teams to play in Sanford Stadium.
After that, the Twitter arguments devolved into, ‘Which stadium is louder?’
It Just Means More, as always.
I think Ainge was spot-on with his assessment of Sanford Stadium in the mid-2000’s. Unfortunately for his credibility, Sanford Stadium is much, much louder these days.

Choppin’ Wood about the Dawgs and the Vols
We ended the episode with a good, ol’-fashioned Choppin’ Wood session as we do every Wednesday.
Palmer Thombs chopped wood about Georgia’s offense compared to Tennessee’s offense, and what it means on Saturday.
Jake Rowe believes Tennessee will blitz Stetson Bennett all night.
I chopped wood about Nolan Smith‘s continued presence as a leader, even after his season-ending torn pec injury.
The episode also features cameo appearances from the SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum and Ryan McGee, as well as Volquest’s Brent Hubbs.
We got plenty of input from the Vols on this episode to balance out all these barkin’ Dawgs.
But it’s nothing compared to all the noise that the 2022 version of Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium will bring to these Vols’ earholes.
I can’t wait for this game. I know y’all can’t either.
