Georgia to host ESPN's College GameDay for Tennessee game
College GameDay is coming to Athens for the nation’s marquee matchup next Saturday. For the first time in the 2022 season, Georgia will be featured on ESPN’s College Football kickoff show after the Bulldogs were on it six times last season including twice in the Classic City. No. 1 Georgia hosts Tennessee at Sanford Stadium (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS), currently ranked No. 3 with the College Football Playoff rankings possibly shaking things up on Tuesday to create a 1 vs. 2 matchup.
Athens has previously hosted College GameDay seven times. In fact, GameDay’s first trip to Athens was for Georgia-Tennessee in 1998. After losing the first two GameDay games in Athens, Georgia has won each of the last five, all in the last 10 years.

BOR meeting sparks speculation
“That will be an age-old question. I think every defensive coordinator across college football is trying to figure that out. We’re all searching,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said after the Bulldogs’ win over Florida on Saturday when asked about trying to simulate Tennessee’s tempo in practice. “There’s no way. Let’s be honest, you can two-huddle, three-huddle, shotgun huddle, go against air but they do it and they do it really well. It’s really hard to defend.”
“Well, I mean, is it a concern? They run the ball really well, guys,” he added, talking about the ways in which the Volunteers attack through the air. “I know you don’t believe me, but they run the ball really well — which is why they throw the ball outside because everybody’s got people inside. They have a perfect storm: they’ve got really fast, elite wideouts, a quarterback with a really strong arm. You know, if they have a quarterback that couldn’t throw it, you’d say, ‘Well, they’re one-dimensional.’ But they have kind of a perfect storm going for his offense, and when he has that it’s really, really, really hard to stop. They go at an elite pace, and they do a tremendous job.”
