The Georgia Bulldogs are currently sitting No. 2 in the Class of 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings, and while that’s not for nothing, if there’s a glaring area of need, it’s still at the EDGE position.

This weekend may go a long way toward that end, with two of the nation’s top prospects at the spot expected on campus.

The first, five-star EDGE Samuel M’Pemba, the nation’s No. 23 overall recruit in 2023, has long been planning this trip.

A product of Bradenton, Florida’s IMG Academy, M’Pemba is scheduled to spend his official visit to Athens this weekend, a visit he’s long had locked in.

And it’s not the first stop for him this season, having also seen the Bulldogs in Athens when they hosted Samford in early September.

M’Pemba’s stop this weekend will be at least the fourth trip M’Pemba has made in the 2022 calendar year, contributing highly to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine having Georgia as a firm leader for his services.

Five expert predictions certainly don’t hurt in boosting those numbers either, putting the Bulldogs as a 93.7-percent favorite to land the coveted defender.

Georgia’s opponent this weekend, Tennessee, and Miami are also among those vying for the services of M’Pemba, though the feeling remains that the Dawgs are the team to beat by a large degree.

In addition to M’Pemba’s trip, sources have shared with On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons that Consensus five-star Damon Wilson of Venice, Florida is also expected to be on hand for the matchup.

Wilson, who recently spent his official in Athens in early October, is believed to be considering both Georgia and Ohio State heavily with a decision potentially nearing.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 31 overall prospect in the Class of 2023, Wilson is also the nation’s No. 5 EDGE recruit in the cycle and No. 9 in the state of Florida.

Currently, the Bulldogs hold a single commitment at the EDGE position, with four-star prospect and On300 member Gabriel Wilson of IMG Academy having pledged his services over the summer.

Safe to say it’s a huge weekend for the Bulldogs on many fronts, but there may be no two visitors that mean more in terms of the future of the pass rush position and Georgia’s chances of finishing with the top-class in the nation.
