Georgia to host running back Chauncey Bowens committed to rival on official visit
Georgia is making a move on four-star running back Chauncey Bowens. A Florida commit, Bowens took to Twitter on Sunday to announce he’ll be taking an official visit to see Athens June 9th-11th. He’s ranked the No. 92 overall player and No. 10 running back according to the On300 for 2024.
This won’t be the first time Bowens has been to see the Bulldogs. He made a trip to the Classic City in January and followed it up with another in March. Georgia is the only school he’s seen twice this year having taken a single trip to Florida (January 21st) and Miami (April 14th).
“I got to see what Georgia does behind the scenes and I liked that a lot,” Bowens told On3’s Chad Simmons about his January visit. “Everyone wants to be a national champion, so getting up there in January and seeing how hard they work, showed me a lot. I got a look at what makes Georgia national champions.”
“Coach Dell McGee is a really good dude that has a great relationship with all of his players,” he continued. “When we talk, we talk about how hard they work there, how running backs get developed and things like that. Now I just want to get up there and watch the team practice.”
The in-state Gators still hold the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) prediction at 40.8% percent with Miami, just 77 miles away from his hometown of North Palm Beach, Fla., also coming in ahead of Georgia at 14.7%. However, the fact that the Bulldogs are getting Bowens on campus certainly speaks well for their chances to land him – 12.6% currently according to the RPM.
Bowens would be the latest in what’s becoming a long list of former Florida commits that have ended up at Georgia. Recent examples include Julian Humphrey, C.J. Smith and E.J. Lightsey, all in the Class of 2022.
Alabama, Ohio State and Tennessee are also pushing hard for the commitment of Bowens. Last season he ran for over 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns in nine games.

Georgia has one running back committed in its No. 1-ranked recruiting class. Dwight Phillips Jr. is the No. 8 running back and No. 95 overall player according to the On3 Industry Ranking. On3 has him even higher overall at No. 86 but lower amongst his position group at No. 9.
Bowens would join a Bulldog offensive class that recently landed the commitment of the nation’s No. 1 overall player, five-star plus+ quarterback Dylan Raiola. Raiola is ranked the No. 1 player in the country according to the On3 Industry Ranking, one of two five-stars already on board alongside cornerback Ellis Robinson IV.
On the offensive side, Georgia also has commitments from wide receiver Ny Carr, quarterback Ryan Puglisi, wide receiver NiTareon Tuggle, wide receiver Sacovie White and offensive tackle Malachi Toliver on top of Phillips and Raiola.
While the Bulldogs’ defensive class isn’t quite as strong in numbers with just five commits to the offense’s seven, the quality speaks for itself with all in the top-100 according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Commits alongside Robinson include: linebacker Demarcus Riddick, safety Jaylen Heyward, safety Peyton Woodyard and cornerback Demello Jones.
