Georgia vs South Carolina week rolls on, and so does The Georgia Show. This Dawgs – Gamecocks week feels too sleepy for me.

The spread pins Georgia as a 24.5-point-favorite.

I know how good these Dawgs are (I think). But something about going to Columbia at noon makes me wonder if this game won’t be a little tougher than the experts think.

Speaking of experts, I got to hear from DawgsHQ’s team reporters about what they’ve seen thus far this week.

Senior editor Jake Rowe and beat reporter Palmer Thombs heard from Kirby on Monday and Tuesday. They’ve been keeping their ears to the ground on the week’s big stories, and they didn’t hold back on this week’s LIVE episode of The Georgia Show.

The biggest story of the day had nothing to do with Georgia vs South Carolina

It had everything to do with South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler‘s former team, the Oklahoma Sooners.

The SEC directed Georgia and Oklahoma to cancel their previously-scheduled 2023 and 2031 games, as the Sooners will join the conference with Texas at some point within the next few years.

Rowe gave me his expert takes on what it will mean for the Dawgs’ scheduling down the road.

Georgia fans, I feel your pain. The home schedule could be stronger, and adding Ball State probably doesn’t light your fire too much.

But remember, the home schedule was already going to look similar next season.

Oklahoma was supposed to be a road game for Georgia in 2023, not Between the Hedges.

Boomer Later.

AD Mitchell’s injury, stopping Spencer Rattler and some special guests

The other big story this week is, of course, AD Mitchell‘s injury.

Georgia countered against Samford by throwing passes to no fewer than 250 different receivers.

Ok, that’s an exaggeration. It was closer to 150.

Rowe gave his thoughts on the severity of AD Mitchell’s injury, and we also take a look at the number-one most likely candidate to fill in for Mitchell during his absence.

The other big question for me:

How effective can Georgia’s defense be vs Spencer Rattler and the South Carolina passing attack?

Georgia only has one sack thus far this season. Bo Nix is mobile and gets the ball out quickly (even if it’s to the wrong team at times). Maybe that Oregon contest helped Georgia prepare for a guy like Rattler.

The mobile threat Spencer Rattler provides – especially if he decides to have the game of his life – is not something to sneeze at if you’re Georgia.

South Carolina’s receivers had some significant success against the all-world Georgia defense last year. We examine the threat level on The Georgia Show.

You’ll also enjoy guest appearances from Drew Butler and Jake Fromm as they gave me some insight on this matchup (full convo here).

Palmer spoke with Gamecock Central’s Wes Mitchell, as well (that full convo, here).

Oh yeah, it was also a Choppin’ Wood Wednesday

Find out what we’re really Choppin’ Wood about this week as the Dawgs continue their prep for South Carolina.

The Choppin’ Wood segment is all about those topics that are just too hot for us not to talk about.

Naturally, Will Muschamp was bound to show up somewhere.

What did we think about that?
