Georgia wins SEC East at Mississippi State: WATCH The Georgia Show
Georgia took down Mississippi State in Starkville and won the SEC East. It wasn’t always in the bag, but the score shows how dominant this one really was.
Georgia made Dawgs fans sweat out the outcome momentarily at Mississippi State.
That punt return to end the first half, turnovers, and penalties all combined for a game that the road Dawgs just couldn’t seem to put away.
But solid performances from Stetson Bennett (in spite of two interceptions), Ladd McConkey and Jalen Carter made sure the Bulldogs in the white jerseys would get the better of the Bulldogs in the maroon jerseys.
I spoke with DawgsHQ senior editor Jake Rowe about all these Dawgs and what lies ahead for Georgia on The Georgia Show. We’re live after every Dawgs game, Sunday at 8:30PM ET, and Wednesday at 8:30PM ET as well.
If you want to catch it live and engage in our Junkyard Dawg comment section, subscribe to our YouTube channel. You can also catch the replays there, too.
If you’re more of an audio person, the replays also post on Apple and Spotify.
Stetson Bennett made it interesting, but he also made plays
I know it was tough to see Stetson Bennett throw a couple of picks against this feisty Mississippi State defense.

But he also connected with tight ends Brock Bowers and Darnell Washington for a touchdown apiece, and Ladd McConkey elevated his game in Starkville as well.
His receiving score and a smooth end-around, 70-yard touchdown run should silence his doubters from early in the season.
Georgia’s running game wasn’t there for much of the night, but the Dawgs stuck with it and answered Kirby Smart’s challenge at halftime.
Check out my conversation with Jake to hear what that challenge entailed.
When Georgia didn’t help Mississippi State, the Dawgs’ defense dominated as well
Without Mississippi State’s punt-return touchdown, the Dawgs defense only gave up 12 points.
Mike Leach’s Bulldogs had one offensive touchdown, and it just so happened to be after a Stetson Bennett interception.
So no, Jalen Carter and the Dawgs’ defense didn’t have any kind of letdown after their decisive, tough performance against Tennessee last week.
Keep that pressure going against Will Levis at Kentucky next week, and these SEC East champs will have back-to-back undefeated SEC schedules under their belts.
Not bad for a team that’s replacing 15 NFL Draft picks.
Kirby Smart’s got these Dawgs rollin’. The Georgia Show is rollin’, too.
Appreciate y’all checking it out and joining the fun each week.
