Georgia's in-state roll continues with win over Georgia Tech

Atlanta, Ga – Georgia’s home run power seems to work in every level of baseball stadium. The Bulldogs’ offense helped them to a 5-2 win over rival Georgia Tech at Truist Park on Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs moved to 33-6. It was their fifth win over the team from the Peach State. The Bulldogs have beaten Kennessaw State, Georgia State twice, West Georgia and now Georgia Tech.
The Bulldogs had some momentum coming in as they took two of three from the No. 1 team in last week’s rankings, Arkansas.
The key moment
The Bulldogs got two big home runs in the fourth inning that busted a 2-2 tie. An opposite-field home run from senior outfielder Devin Obee gave Georgia the one-run lead. A few batters later, shortstop Kolby Branch hit a two-run home run, which was his fifth in the last five games.
The Bulldogs got two-hit performances from Ryland Zaborowski, Christan Adams and Henry Hunter.
The Georgia bullpen held off the Yellow Jacket over the last five innings.
The combined efforts of JT Quinn, who started, Nate Taylor, Justin Byrd, Zach Harris, Alton Davis, Davis Chastain, Charlie Goldstein, Eric Hammond, Matthew Hoskins and Jordan Stephens covered the workload for the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Davis was credited with the win.
The big moment for the bullpen came as Hoskins walked a Yellow Jacket and the next hitter doubled. Hoskins was able to escape with a strikeout to get through the eighth inning.
Stephens closed the night with a with a smooth ninth inning.
What did they say?
Kolby Branch on momentum: “It’s big momentum. We had a bad series in Texas. We came back and fought back, and a good win over, I think Presbyterian. Then, we had a good series against Arkansas, and it was a good win tonight. These are all good wins that we can add on to, and we’re ready to go on to Nashville.”
Wes Johnson on his approach to playing at Truist Park: “I thought we came in, I told our guys, I told everybody and I gave them a good 10 or 15 minutes when we got here to get out your phone and go this place is really cool, obviously it’s the Braves park. Let’s get all that out of the way and then after that we’re putting it away and it’s back to playing baseball and respecting the game and coming out just you versus the hitter, hitters versus the pitcher. It doesn’t matter how big the park is, the bases are still 90 feet and I’m still 60 feet, six inches.”
What’s next for Georgia?
The Bulldogs have to have hit the road early this weekend. Georgia will jump back into SEC play with a four-game series with Vanderbilt in Nashville. Game one gets going at 7 p.m. on Thursday night.
