Georgia's Jared Wilson posts freakish 40-yard dash time at NFL Combine

Many Georgia fans were watching the NFL Combine on Sunday to see what offensive lineman Jared Wilson would run in the 40-yard dash. After Kirby Smart claimed this spring that his GPS times were up there with some of the defensive backs, many expected Wilson to turn in a blistering time.
He did not disappoint. After running it in 4.9 seconds on the first try, Wilson turned in an unofficial time of 4.84 seconds on his second. He ran that time at 6-foot-3, 310 pounds. Wilson had a 10-yard split of 1.72 seconds, which is .04 slower than Jordan Davis a few years ago. He also 32-inch vertical jump and a nine-foot, four-inch broad jump.
According to NextGen stats, Wilson reached a max speed of 21.04 miles per hour during his run. That’s the third fastest for an offensive lineman in the past three years and it’s the fastest ever for an interior offensive lineman. Again, all of that is expected if you hear Smart discuss his one-year starting center this spring.

“I’m excited for the rest of the world to get to see Jared Wilson,” Smart said this spring. This a guy that, No. 1, I don’t put a lot of high expectations on people and anoint people, he has a lot to do to be the best player he can be. But when you talk about athleticism at the center position, this guy runs faster than a lot of our defensive backs, believe it or not, our tight ends, our quarterbacks. His numbers, extremely athletic, over 300 pounds, can get to the second level as quick as anybody. Just really athletic.”
Some see Wilson as the top center in the 2025 NFL Draft and he did nothing to hurt himself on Sunday. The biggest knock might be his experience. Sedrick Van Pran served as Georgia’s starting center for three years and Wilson had to wait for his opportunity. Once it came, he started four straight games before suffering an achilles/ankle injury that cause him to miss the next two contests. In all, he started 12 games in his Georgia career.
