The GHSA State Championships kickoff today, and over the course of the next couple of days, we’re taking a look at the names you need to watch from the Georgia perspective in the matchups of the best the Peach State has to offer.

You can catch all the action right here.

4:00 PM – Bowdon vs. Brooks County – A Division II

Though they’re playing for the title of one of the smallest divisions in the state, don’t be fooled. There are still players to follow in this matchup where the Georgia Bulldogs are concerned. If you’ve been brushing up on your 2026 recruiting, you may already be well familiar with Bowdon tight end Kaiden Prothro (1).

At almost 6-foot-7 and 210 pounds, he’s a jumbo athlete at the spot and tough matchup for anyone unlucky enough to draw his name. Ranked as the nation’s No. 37 overall prospect in 2026 and the No. 2 tight end in the country for the junior cycle, Prothro has developed a close relationship with Todd Hartley early on and noted that he felt the Dawgs were trending in his feelings back in October. Georgia currently sits as the leader in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Brooks County, meanwhile, has a similarly impressive athlete, albeit one class younger, in 2027 athlete George Lamons (8). The sophomore ticks the tape at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and has early offers from the likes of FSU, Alabama, and South Carolina to go along with his attention from the Bulldogs. Lamons, who plays both wideout and some outside linebacker, has been a bit mum in the early goings of his recruitment, but the South Carolina Gamecocks have an early lead for his services per the Recruiting Prediction Machine. Will be interesting to see how Georgia factors in.

7 PM – Marist vs. North Oconee – AAAA

While Marist has put a few guys into the Georgia ranks, such as Sage Hardin and John FitzPatrick, we’ll be focused on the Titans of North Oconee in this game from the recruiting perspective.

It all starts with wide receiver Landon Roldan (12), a 2025 Georgia signee who’s turned heads in a major way in his senior campaign with strong receiving numbers and speed to spare. While he’s ranked a three-star in the Industry Ranking, there’s serious buzz about his ability after how he spent his senior year in Bogart and capping it with a state championship would be all the sweeter.

Aside from Roldan, 2026 EDGE Khamari Brooks (5) is already a four-star prospect for the cycle and checks in at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds. The Dawgs made a major splash with an offer to him this season, and the Recruiting Prediction Machine has them as a better than 50-percent favorite to land his services, though it is still early.

While not on the Georgia radar at the moment, it’s not hard to believe that the Dawgs are well familiar with North Oconee quarterback Harrison Faulkner (1). If his last name sounds familiar, it’s for good reason, as he is the son of former Georgia analyst and current Georgia Tech offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner. He’s made Roldan look good this year and has an offer from Coastal Carolina.
